It's been confirmed, and well known, that the old VA for Zeratul died. That's a good enough excuse for a new VA. :P For Raynor, I can understand trying to go for a more rugged voice to go with his darker look; I just wish his accent wasn't so strong.

at first i was positive this was just an internet version of an urban legend, so i did some research, and it turns out that it's true. Jack Ritschel, the voice of Zeratul has passed away. Rest in Peace.

It seems James Harper will take the voice of Mengsk in sc2.

The second issue I have is the with the voices.

The voice work is good but it doesn't seem quite as good as it was in the first Starcraft. Every line in the first game was delivered really well, even the units had memorable lines.

Jim Raynor's voice in particular bothers me, not so much because the actor is different but because of his accent. Yeah Raynor always had a southern accent, but it was subtle. Now all of a sudden he sounds like he belongs in a saloon, it just seems a little overdone.

Yeah, I hear you. I miss the old Jim alot as well. They kept his badass character, but you're right, the accent is overacted now. Have you heard the viking yet? Sounds retarded. How about some of the protoss voices? They sound human now, not like aged, superior, scary as hell beings of energy. You could tell every protoss line recorded was distorted and modified in the old SC, but now it's like they recorded the protoss voices and kept them like that. They shouldn't sound like normal people.

I'm really looking forward to playing the campaign, but there are still some things I'm kind of worried about.

The first being all the in-game cutscenes. I think the in game cutscenes are cool but I hope they don't take too much precedence over the cinematics, cinematics were always one of my favorite things about Blizzards games.

I know. Believe me, I have an issue with the new voices as well. SC2 dialog is ok but it doesn't compare to the first voices and dialog. Every voice of every character recorded sounded beastly, unique and scary as shit (my favorite is the arbiter's voice). One of the lines that pisses me off is the viking, "Looks like the big boy needs a little training". That line is so stupid and the voice sounds rediculous. What were they thinking, recording that? At least they have the old Kerrigan...

Hell yeah! I was thinking the same thing when thinking of old voices from Starcraft I loved. Zeratul was amazing. Whatever he said (gausnadada) was an orgasm. All protoss voices were awesome. Lets see... Firebat, valk, zeratul, arbiter, zlot, corsairs, overmind, cerebrates, matriarch, carriers (godly voice), and everything else basically... Jim was cool was hell, Mensk even sounded cool. Duran also, defilers holy shit! They did good with voices and sounds. I won't flood the page anymore.
