I believe the camera try to detect the eyes to determine the location of a face. The black guy has his eyes in the shadow, so I think this makes it very difficult for the camera to detect the face.

If a guy is so black that you can´t even see his face, obviously the camera won´t recognize it. I´m so sorry for the people like me that still has to face "racist" issues. Just put more light in the face or do something simpler, move the camera in the right position yourself, it´s a lot cheaper then buy that kind of cam.

this guys features are totally dark so maybe the camera doesn't recognize him as a "face" you cannot see his eyes or the entire bottom half of his face.

the white girl's face is pretty dark also.

the camera appears to be just a shitty product.

Sorry but even humans can't clearly see the second subject's face. Black skin absorbs more light that light skin. It is not a secret or unreal to say that; light skin will bounce more light on low light conditions. This is not even a technical problem, it is nature and how algorithms in these cameras work. They look for features in the face. Sorry black people but get more light in front of your face, professional photographers know this very well.
