  • What he says near the end is so true. It was a great loss when he passed, luckily he left behind so much wonderful music to enjoy. Nobody beats The Duke.

  • I don't think i will try to become a musician after all. Everything the Duke says here is and was so true, but nowadays, it's a lot worse, and it is no longer possible for a serious artist to gain any sort of mainstream accept.

  • Duke was so slick...

  • Truly a brilliant man. I can't stop watching.

  • a man ahead of his time

  • "It has no relationship to music." Damn straight, most pop music stinks. That's why they need a stage full of dancers, T and A, flashing lights/lasers, and an "image".

  • Thank you for your nice remarks.

  • Thanks, Russell

  • He's not enjoying himself

His sared music pieces were fantastic... shame i can't find them

  • Why do 99% of interviewers ask the most pointless, cliched questions? Jesus..it's no wonder many celebs become curt with their fans and the media. Anyway, Duke, Monk and Mingus-three awesome composers.

  • Eloquent and articulate. Gracious, yet willful. The definition of cool.....I truly adore the Duke.

  • Playing and composing into the 70's!!!! WOW!!!

  • awesome how he says that popular music is about money and not the music

  • Duke:

"Jazz? The word to me means freedom of expression."

Couldn't of said it better. A musical genius.

  • What he says at the end there is so true!! The only reason kids like most of the music they like is cause it's in style to like it, not because it's any good, the same thing goes for the clothes people wear!

  • Glad he left his teeth in for this one...

  • I love Duke. In my opinion he was the greatest American composer of the 20th century. I've never heard anybody that could take in so many different styles of music and incorporate it into their own sound the way Duke did. Not to mention he continually developed throughout his entire career. Listen to the way he sounded in the 20s and 30cs and compare that to how he sounded in the 40s and 50s and then com0are it to how he sounded in the 60s and 70s. Truly amazing to say the least

  • He looks like Anthony Queen at the beggining of this video.

  • the real duke.

  • A true inspiration!

  • I like when he says "Jazz is freedom of expression"

  • No one has ever said it better. Thanks for putting this video up!

  • Thank you for posting!

  • Great interview. Wish it was longer. Thanks for posting
