No, not really. The Russians got their designs from the Nazis, so did the US. After WW2, both sides captured German rocket technology, copied it (the Russians created the R-1, R-2, R-3, R-4, and R-5). The USSR built their strategic weapons from there, and ended up creating the first ICBM in the 50's. So USA copied USSR's ICBM technology.

ICBM does not equal a liquid fueled rocket. There are ICBMs based off of solid fuel. Von Braun was designing the first ICBM, meant to hit US cities. Then in 1957, Korolyov developed the R7, the world's first REAL ICBM. Before that we had those liquid fuel rockets, but the whole idea was finished with the Soviets, who also thought of attaching nuclear warheads as well.

Like I said, it isn't all about the propulsion. It takes engineering too. The propulsion is easy: you need a combustible fuel and an O2 source. The aerodynamics, carrying the warhead, warhead design, etc. is far more complex.

dude I'm an American, and I do think we have the best pilots and I do think we have the best planes. But i'm also a realist. We don't and we may never know how most of these planes fly against a competent enemy. Iraq sure never was one. Good news is, the Euro fighter is flown by Allies who i doubt we'll be fighting anytime soon. The F-117 can be seen on Radar....though it looks like a bird, but its using 1970's stealth technology. The newer birds are top of the line stealth

Correct, we held back the Soviets. More people died in Indochina w/o American involvement because the "Killing Fields" and the purges by communists that resulted in the deaths of millions of civilians happened when we left. We didn't have to win in Korea because the goal was to stop north korea from taking over the South. Judging from S. Korea's success, the communist north lost in the long run. Yes, you guys did well against the Russians back then but you can't do much now.

That's because of the Marshall Plan. The USA rebuilt Europe, Japan, S. Korea, and pretty much supported the rest of the world after WW2, especially with the Soviet bloc poised to take over. We did well because Europe was so lousy that people left it for a better life in "The New World".

Saddumb had a lot more soldiers than Euroweenieland did and he got crushed, twice. The USSR had even more and they just wilted away. You're showing your ignorance if you think that numbers will save you, even china is reducing it's military manpower in favor of American-style, high-tech, combined arms warfare. So how are those stealth "cruisers" doing over in Euroweenie land? Still sailing around in your dreams?
