The DreamCast runs quite hot normally anyway, which is why there are 4 fans in the system to keep things cooler. The perspex acting as a shelf to hold the DC board on also provides an air gap underneath, allowing air flow around that part of the case too.

I agree with the sentiment of how warm the system will get after being on for a while - only one way to know for sure...!
