Fast shutter speed, a black background and black side board placed 90 degrees to the right of camera, an on-board flash, with a blinder on the right. Then play. It's fun. Also try a mister with different color flash filters. You should be able to get good prismatic spectral light in the water droplets.
Thank you for you r comment. This was my first ever attempt at this and I did not feel that I was in a place for making a tutorial. I think I googled "smoke photography tutorial" and read about this for like an hour from multiple sources. I will say that I am glad that I didnt make one - as I shot all of these at f22 it I recall correctly. Doing this again, I would likely take some at f8 and some others at f2.8 just to see which were better.
I did a color overlay in photoshop. I know I used blending modes, but dont remember specifically. It is easy enough to try this out and switch that around to see which you like better.

Hey guys... I found this really cool website. Go to google and search Flame Painter. I forgot the website name... but it's really neat.

The images are "Pretty" but most people who are viewing videos like these are also looking for techniques as well.
