  • MASSIVE~E

  • love this version the best of all heard em all like the way bob presented this song during this concert an time at his best . an this song says it all . god bless bob

  • nice to know that bob have a thing for black women too! Kinda explains the attraction to darker hair women a little

  • This is definitely Dylan. Bob always rearranged songs live, that's why I only own a handful of live recording cuz I find it disappointing. Its not like the band where they try to keep it original.

  • @Semelak85 Bob does this with Girl from the North Country with Johnny Cash. It doesn't really sound like him but it is.

  • not bob dylan-

  • is that not Danko sittin there puffin on a cigarette?

  • Tripped me up when he said babe everytime instead of gal. I prefer with gal :p nice to hear this one though TY

  • your the reason I'll be travelin on........this was soundtrac to best years of my freakin life.hitched to 80 johnny winter shows, 130 dead shows, muddy waters, the list goes on....I lived to teach my grandkids what great music is.......teach them folks...don't let rap define ANYTHING in this world...peace

  • @ikoiko2631 I like rap ... when the beat and the lyrics express emotions, feelings ...

  • @xDdoh no. rap is for the untrained ear, one that has no real concept of true musical tallent. rap is just loud vulgarity with a lousy beat, anybody with a windows media player could make. try playin a guitar and harmonica at once ;)

  • @FPAUTO I don't agree... I'm not talking about commercial shit that everyone hears on radio- I guess that's what you call rap and that is not rap for me.

  • @xDdoh You mean to say Hip hop. please refer to the actual art form, and not the sorry excuse of "talent," that is Rap.

  • @gorillazhead :)

  • @xDdoh Biz Marquee's the shit.

  • @xDdoh Rap used to mean something completely different, didn't it? I refer here to Pete Seeger with his "English Is Crazy," saying "When I wind up my watch I start it, and when I wind up this rap I end it." But then came the cRap everyone thought they could do, and the more people tried to do it the worse it got.

  • @FPAUTO you're very uneducated on the world of hip hop and mixing music. hip hop is poetry put to music, go back and listen to hip hop from the early 90s or mid 80s to know what I'm talking about but PLEASE don't compare the shit you hear today to the classics. PS i love dylan

  • @ikoiko2631 what does hip hop have to do with this? and its plenty of positive hip hop out there

  • @ikoiko2631 how close minded of you. music is the manifestation of emotion. how can you say you know great music? you meant to say you know great music as long as it is YOUR music.

  • i dedicate this beaut to my little red rooster my twin soul flame, until the time is right again, remember all is going as planned though it may not seem that way at times, glad to make the connect, that in itself is a miracle, hey maybe next time it will be forever and will be a bit more finite..

    don't think twice, it's alright

    Celeste Anna Celeste

  • Yes, this is Dylan, & it's been Dylan since the tour & this recording came out, back 'round 1974 or so: he shouts on most of songs here.

  • cheerier sort of foppish slapstick

  • this is definitely bob. he sounds different recorded sometimes.

  • @kimbotube59 ok

  • @kimbotube59 this isn't a cover, its from the before the flood live album...its obviously bob, just listen to the harmonica playing...of course his voice sounds different to how it sounds on the record theres more than a ten year gap between this recording and the album (you should hear how he sings it now)

  • @kimbotube59 purchase the album before the flood. this is dylan!

  • @kimbotube59 I actually have this CD and I assure you that it is from Before the Flood with Bob Dylan and The Band.

  • Just to clarify all the stupid comments on here, This is NOT a cover. This is Bob Dylan singing.

  • I had this album on vinyl - one of Dylan's best live recordings. Will you post more please? It's All Right Ma was a great version.

  • U suck jk

  • thank you bob dylan.

  • Saw this show in 1974 at the LA Forum incredible experience. Still to this day in my top 10 shows of a life time

  • Heart being ripped from chest while realising the next logical step is to say what needs be said and move right along. Or writhe in pain. Brutal

  • Yes, this is from Before the Flood, a live concert album featuring Bob Dylan and The Band. But this segment of the concert was Dylan solo and acoustic. You don’t hear The Band on this cut. However, it is a great album.

  • I think this work by Dylan is exceptional because he unleashes his voice, which, obviously, he has plenty of. People complain when he uses the high thin register, but obviously it's a choice, because here we have what Eddie Vedder basically copies, not that he isn't wonderful in his own right.

  • It may just be me... but i heard this version before the studio recorded version, and i enjoy this one so much more.

  • wow what a great harmonica he's got goin here!

  • Seen Bob Dylan a couple times, he must have had tonsillitis at this gig.

  • @SeanLawlorNelson calm down. this is not a cover, is on the album "before the flood". peace

  • @SeanLawlorNelson This is actually most definately not a cover, so if you think Bob sucks, then cheers for you!

  • @SeanLawlorNelson your an absolute fool.

  • @SeanLawlorNelson It's no cover, it's on the album "Before the Flood," which I have - also, I was at the Oakland Coliseum in 1973 and saw him do this song in the acoustic set of the show. At the time I didn't care for the 'jazzed-up' versions of the songs he and The Band did, but then who am I to say. He's the artist and eh's made good choices. Surely a genius!

  • @SeanLawlorNelson

Not a cover, asshole! And an awesome version by the man himself!

  • @SeanLawlorNelson chill man

  • @SeanLawlorNelson its funny cuz its bob singing and he says its not good when its great

  • I just saw my ex girlfriend and immediately thought of this song, funny how she thinks we're friends now or somethin..LOL

  • fantastic tune

  • Am I the only one who thinks "The Weary Kind" (from the film Crazy Heart) is uncannily similar to this great classic?

  • Then hit the road and get tangled up in blue.

  • This is the one and only break up song. Dump your sweetheart to this.

  • any body seen the movie Dogfight... this song was on her. good stuff. good stuff.

  • @Breana9109 Yes!! I love that movie so much. It's a underrated classic.

  • @juliepop13 yea Lilly Taylor was good and man River Phoniex was to young when he dead.

  • This song actually helped me get over a woman. There isn't much music I can say that about.

  • I never get tired of this song.

  • what CD would this copy of the song be on, does anyone know ? cause i love this live version :)

  • @morgiemooily

    Before the Flood

  • @ethammer24 okay thanks :)

  • this song fills me with hope and happiness when its the harmonica solo. :)

  • This is probably one of my favorite albums. This was the summer of me learning what good music was!!

  • his harmonica playing is alot better than when he did the original recording... but the singing is better on the original... either way bob dylan is awesome.

  • This concert tour has something different about it. Dylan just let a part of his voice loose that had never been there before, but was only hinted at in Nashville Skyline. Perhaps it was the accident, the hiatus from performing, but something caused him to stop being a performance artist on this tour and to just be a singer. It sounds like he had just had a lesson from Johnny Cash and then walked on the stage and sang. Amazing.

  • yea we do need a dylan. INSTEAD THERE IS LADY GAGA. UGHH. The way things are going the world will end in 2012

  • @aduratovic7 Of course nobody will ever be like Bob Dylan and that is a good thing!! But there are some really amazing bands out there today. You need to just find them, indie bands are getting really good now. Most of them derive there influence from Dylan, The Beatles, and other great bands. They are the face of music today. Anything pop is dead. That is a direct fault of the 80's and late 70's.

  • we need a bob dylan in our generation but theres only one bob dylan!

  • @ssaaally you are soooo right

  • listen up darling, this is the way it is ! [well, maybe ....] why the "error, try again" stuff ??

  • listen up darling, this is the way it is ! [well, maybe ....] why does this thing keep saying "error" ???

  • my favourite dylan song, close second is 'every grain of sand'

    makes me wanna weep, this

  • I prefer the slower version

  • Don't Think Twice, It's All Right sounds a bit like Simple Song of Freedom (Tim Hardin) which followed DTTIAR. The first few measures of both seem close in melody. The tempo of this Dylan song may vary from a given performance or cover, but the studio version is closer to the tempo of SSOF. Nevertheless, don't think twice: folk songs are often of a close or identical melodic cloth. That's all folks: a thread of common unity...

  • He is THE best songwriter ever. Please tell me if you know of any better folk artists, I would love to hear.

  • Nothing short of genius! It's great to hear him actually sing:-)

  • 18, LA, US Gov experimental mescaline, scalped $75 tickets, loge seats looking at Bobby Z's piano, 2-13-74 LA Forum presents Bob Dylan and the Band....Priceless

  • @jeffdachef lucky !!!

  • I wish i had been more sober the 2 times i saw him. With age comes regret...and wisdom lol

  • @woostergino It's okay, he probably wasn't either. :) STILL one of the best musicians ever.

  • @woostergino And i wish he would have been younger when I saw him, poor guy couldn't even hold the guitar

  • @thekush88 not necessary to have said

  • @2Runnoft don't be afraid of the truth man

  • @woostergino I wish he had been more sober, he sounds terrible when he is playing live.

  • @woostergino you wouldnt have regret if you didnt have any

  • @woostergino Don't feel bad. He was trashed or ill the 3 times I tried to see him. I was straight, but he sure wasn't.

  • @MyMoppet52 Really? I don't suppose you saw him in the 80s? I heard that he had some pretty hard times with the bottle and such then. I saw him back in '05, and he seemed to be in darn good form. You a big Bobhead too or no?

  • @hanshotfirst1138 I love Bob Dylan. I saw him in the early 80's I am guessing. He'd just gotten "saved" & written You have to Serve Somebody. He was in white sparkle clothes & just sang all new stuff. It wasn't what I consider 'Bob Dylan' for the price we had to pay. Saw him in early 90's after he won his grammy. He wasn't well or was trashed. I saw him with my daughter on the tour w/ Willie Nelson. We thought he had had a stroke & the lead singer was carrying him. They sounded alike. Bummer.

  • @woostergino but you were messed up, right there with him!

  • @woostergino dont worry he wasn't ..lol ;)

  • @DLrips Yeah, not too many of us were LOL

  • @woostergino Ain't that the truth!

  • @chef4cook If we were wise at 19, what fun would getting old be?? LOL

  • @woostergino

I hear you. But just remember that regret is the most usless emotion. It makes you live in yesterday, robs you of today and won't allow you to have tommorrow.

Life goes on for all of us and we have to live it as honorably and as best we can.

  • @woostergino I use to tell my buds. "Dude, it's Dylan. You can get wasted tomorrow." I guess your buds dropped the ball on ya. Sorry you miss it, man. It was freaking awesome. I'm going tonight in Bangor Maine. Dude's 70 and I'm 56. It should be quite a show.

  • This cat is a poet ..

    Dont think twice ..

  • @missrepo47 You're a cat.

  • Such a wonderful version!!

  • bless myself

  • Masterful tempo. Minimal chord changes. Harp and vocal inflection lifts it into that "other" realm.

  • It just feels good to hear this again.

  • damn good musician
