Ecuadorian journalists tend to be lying scumbags who are willing to sell their own mother to the corporate douchebags who hire them. I'm sorry but President Correa is doing a decent job in administrating the country.
The core of this madness is the fact that Correa is always saying ¨The truth is..¨ when he should say ¨My truth is...¨, he´s doing the exact same bullshit the press has done ´til now. He spends almost half the time he has on live t.v. insulting and repeating to himself ¨This is not true...this is true¨.....We, ecuadorians, should start reading Kant among others to see the ¨truth¨behind his words.......
How can a debate without the main actor, the Ecuadorian citizen, it is obvious that if reporters questions they're going to respond according to their interests, would be good to contrast the information with the common people
Perhaps in your country journalists are accused of murder anyone and spread this news in a newspaper of national circulation, but I do not know beyond Ecuador accused of murder who has to prove it and if not, it captures a liar, that is what they are doing some journalists in Ecuador, they have always done, because they are protected by a large economic power, but the president and the citizens are protected by a higher power "TRUTH" and we were not going to face the miedoy
At Jahzerah not confuse the people around the world that its web-look, do not put fanciful titles, this program should be called The Stream: President vs journalists liars
FALSE, FOR THE FIRST TIME A PRESIDENT NOT AFRAID OF THE POWERFUL MEDIA liar, PRESS YOU CALL WHEN THE POWER attacks the citizens, or when the bankers conned his USERS, (90's), a press that does not pay, the owners , after having stolen the money of the Ecuadorian live like kings TODAY IN MIAMI BEACH, enjoying the ill-gotten, BUT THIS IS OVER, FINALLY A PRESIDENT MAKES A HIGH LES BRAVE AND THE CITIZENS SUPPORT
Hey guys. do not let this people fool you or even try to school you. here some quotes of reknown men about media:People everywhere confuse what they read in newspapers with news.
A. J. Liebling (1904 - 1963)
Advertisements... contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826), Letter to Nathaniel Macon, January 12, 1819
I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it.
Well, journalists in Ecuador are very corrupt and unethical. They lie all the time. This is something that North Americans and Europeans cant understand because for example media in the States can have different point of views, being against or pro a government, but they don't lie like Ecuadorian press do. In Ecuador there is the institutionalization of lying from the private media, that is what the government is fighting against.
I would like to say that this is the worst interview I've ever seen, WORST, EVER. The moderator did not want to facilitate the debate of ideas- what he did was to sell his ignorant prejudice of what's going on in Ecuador. Mr. Palacio only knew to use the word like "this is a huge lie" "this is rubbish", "this is ridiculous". You combatant of democracy is like this??? Why these countries do not enjoy democracy? You elites are culpable, largely.
There's so many accusations of spin, and counter spin, I literally have no idea what the truth is. But I like the presenter guy in this show, he's very polite but maintains control of the debate :)
The Mexican drug war is a far more serious story than any press action. This is a massacre in the tens of thousands.Killed by American guns and American money in a vain attempt to stem the tide of narcotics that the American people have an insatiable appetite for.America does the drugs,Mexico pays the price.
the media has insulted and calumniate the president; now do you think that's freedom of speech? and don't you think that the chief executive deserve respect!?. and we not even talking of the misleading information that the media has posted on their news papers. All the media that claim that the president is taking away the "freedom of speech", they are controlled by families and those families have run in the government before, and making the rich richer and the poor poorer!
If large numbers of people believe in freedom of speech, there will be freedom of speech even if the law forbids it. But if public opinion is sluggish, inconvenient minorities will be persecuted, even if laws exist to protect them. - George Orwell
@AnaborouS "... But if public opinion is sluggish, inconvenient minorities will be persecuted, even if laws exist to protect them. - George Orwell"
To bad your comment does not apply to the reality of Ecuador, were media outlets have been historically controlled by 8 wealthy families behind lucrative oil, financial, telecommunication, imports business. You come here to paste quotes but you ignore the reality of Ecuador were media is controlled by few oligarchs used to oust presidents.
Correa is just some populist living in agoraphobia and chauvinistic paranoia, living an imaginary world. I just hope no one lives such pathological disorder in his/her life.
You're right, and that's one thing they don't like in my country -- where censorship is illegal, btw -- therefore they made your channel "unavailable", probably because it's politically incorrect ;-)

It is not in English, but if you understand it: it shows just in the recent days how the media lies! Diario El Universo & then republished by the other private family owned media lied about a fictitous report made by a university in Spain! The university's president sent an official letter testifying the university has never made such a report and it is a "lie"!
You can't compare the US to Ecuador. The US is not in danger of an internal coup. Ecuador's president was almost removed by a coup. A group of police officers attempted to take him hostage. Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus during the Civil War. He jailed people without due process because there were internal plots to overthrow his government. So, a different political environment exists between the US or most so-called western democracies and Ecuador.
The smart white guy knows he is spewing BS, "The media is against the president" in what country where they fall under national security is the media in any nation separate? Last i checked under national security I can spy on any media I want, under national security I can also step in and shape their media agenda.
@foresakenlion No you have it wrong. He was trying to tell you that the media is used to try to destabilize the government. It was used in the attempted coup in Venezuela in 2002. You can't compare it to Fox attacking Obama. The only way you can compare both countries is if Fox begins to encourage groups like the Minutemen or the Tea Party to overthrow Obama.
There's full free speech in Ecuador. What you have is powerful media owned by a few rich families, that never cared about free speech before Correa's government. Those who see their economic and political interests threatened by a progressive government such as Correa's are the very same that own the major tv channels and newspapers in Ecuador. Mr. Pallares himself works in one of these newspapers, undermining the picture he wants to paint (the state vs. the people): he's just defending his boss
Do any of these people being interviewed been to Ecuador before Correa took power? And are comparing social and infustructure between then and now??!!
I don't think so! The facts are on the ground, and in the streets! More research should have been done by these "witness" reporters before they start making any intelligent opinion or factual based comments.
The Ecuadorean main stream media is owned by a group of 5 private families, obviously wealthy and have been exploiding the people for generations. They basically publicize whichever information is more beneficial to them and their community. The problem is that the new President, Rafael Correa, is investing heavily in social programs and is shifting the balance of wealth and power to the poor, and the private wealthy sector is unhappy. The only thing not discussed here in this show.
@schlagerhansi You have ever been to South American countries and seen the right wing capitalist propaganda? In Germany newspapers like Junge Welt and other left newspapers get constantly harrassed by the government and get lawsuits from Capital. Everyone knows that big media is mostly owned by billionaires and intertwining board member interests that suppress news stories that harm their business interests. Saying that the Capital media is being attacked by labor interest government is a joke.
