The reason jobs are going overseas is because the can pay a person in China a $1 a day. The cost of living in the US simply doesn't allow for wages that low. Put more money in more low income hands and they will spend it on things they have been holding off on.

I think both parties have legitimate points - and we could just skip over a lot of the bs polemics. I think that those making over 250K a year can certainly pay more taxes (although there are a few who may have a windfall year). But what about the 'size and scope' of the federal government. I think that if Housing and Urban Development, the federal Dept of Education, and the Dept of Labor disappeared, almost no one would notice!!

I can't believe Republicans. I'm in Canada, and we have a 16% corporate tax rate that will be reduced to 15% if the Conservative Party gets re-elected. The Liberal Party wants to raise the rate back up to 18%, which is still far too low, in my opinion. The point is that we have the lowest corporate tax rate in the G7 and it hasn't created jobs. There is absolutely no proof lowering corporate taxes creates jobs; in fact, there's plenty of proof of the opposite.

The reason jobs are going overseas is because the can pay a person in China a $1 a day. The cost of living in the US simply doesn't allow for wages that low. Put more money in more low income hands and they will spend it on things they have been holding off on.

Why the rich SHOULD pay more in taxes:
1) The rich benefit the MOST from our economic system.
2) Most rich people didn't earn their money - it was handed down to them.
3) Most rich people don't even work at all - they hire investors to manage their money for them... They get richer just for being rich!
4) 90% of a middle class person's income goes to living expenses. The rich could still live very lavish lifestyles on a much smaller portion of their income.

2) Most of the income in this group came from Dividends & Interest so isn't a 1 time deal
3) Bush lowered the tax rates on Dividend & Interest income to 15% so many pay a lower tax rate than most in the middle class
4) There are 5 or 6 Hedge Fund Mgers who made over $1 BILLION last yr who also qualify for the 15% rate
5) They can survive w/ a higher rate

So, the banks thought is the Fannie Freddie were going to back them anyway, why not? So they took advantage of it and tried even harder to sell houses to blacks, even created the 'liar loans" to do it. Wall Street then bought up the morgages, packaged them into CDO's, and sold them to widows and teachers. All started thanks to goverment involvment, kid.

I think both parties have legitimate points - and we could just skip over a lot of the bs polemics. I think that those making over 250K a year can certainly pay more taxes (although there are a few who may have a windfall year). But what about the 'size and scope' of the federal government. I think that if Housing and Urban Development, the federal Dept of Education, and the Dept of Labor disappeared, almost no one would notice!!

I can't believe Republicans. I'm in Canada, and we have a 16% corporate tax rate that will be reduced to 15% if the Conservative Party gets re-elected. The Liberal Party wants to raise the rate back up to 18%, which is still far too low, in my opinion. The point is that we have the lowest corporate tax rate in the G7 and it hasn't created jobs. There is absolutely no proof lowering corporate taxes creates jobs; in fact, there's plenty of proof of the opposite.
