La Frase del Día - Día veintisiete - whether you like it or not

when using it in arguments etc we can say queremos o no , right? and does this stem from a sentence like 'si lo queras o no'?

 well, I'm wondering if maybe it's from "aunque quieras o no" because "aunque" can take subjunctive or not after it... traditional grammar rules go against the usage of subjunctive (i.e. quieras) after si ("if")

aunque quieras o no (even though you may like it or not)

vs.

si quieres o no (if you want or not)

@sweetchiikk hola que tal me permitire responderte... el ejmplo que pones es correcto. y la respuesta es el verbo no obligatoriamente es en futuro para esta frase puedes decir. quieras o no (presente) come eso por que el doctor lo dice. quieras o no (futuro) haras tu tarea. quieras o no(presente) has tu tarea. asi que los tiempos para esta frase son el presente y el futuro. Un saludo

@06goldman06 I think it's the present subjunctive form of querer. And the way my teacher taught us, you use subjunctive when there's doubt or uncertainty and a bunch of other uses. I think, ehhh no se lol

@06goldman06 it is the present subjunctive...which follows the conjunction "aunque" (although) when the action is pending, which is implied ([Although] you may or may not want to...).

Also you can use it for the other pronouns:

Yo - Quiera o no / Me guste o no

Tú - Quieras o no / Te guste o no

El/Ella/Usted - Quiera o no / Le guste o no

Nosotros (as) - Queramos o no / Nos guste o no

Ustedes / Ellos(as) - Quieran o no / Les guste o no

Vosotros - Queráis o no / Os guste o no
