Hi there, I have a Nautilus Skimmer you replaced I don’t know if it is the same size but is kinda the same model, it has been running for about two years but lately the collection cup overflow and it seems it is not filtering as it should because the water or foam is not as dark as it used to be, the air inlet tube is not clogged with salt and/or calcium deposits so I don’t know what is it wrong
Hi :) have a question, i know theres hang on the back skimmers but how do the other ones work? Do they make a whole in ur tank and also ur stand? Please explain im very confused :(. Thanks. :D
@thefishguy225 IDK how he did, but what i did was just get a piece of airline tubing and place it in the hole in the cap of the skimmer collection cup. Then just silicone the hell out of it fill the gaps. Then just place the other end back into the sump or into a jug like he did. That way, in the even that it overflows, it won't spill water onto the floor. If you lead the tube back into your sump, than you won't have to worry about the pumps running dry from water loss either
If you have to run a flex hose down from the collection cup to a jug because it (the collection cup) fills too fast, Then your skimmer is working improperly. You still are skimming but not as effective as designed to be.
Every Skimmer is different not once have I heard or seen one that did not need some jiggering to getting working right. I have the smaller model and was experiencing the same problem, Solution was the water lvl in my sump was too high
hey man i realy like your vids abd stuff they are realy cool im trying to save some money so i can get a tank but im like trying to get a job but you know how it goes thanks for all ur help
I personally really like it. I know some people have had some issues with it overflowing, but I have never had that issue. It does have a drain plug in the cup and I have run a piece of airline tubing from that to a 1 gallon milk jug. For my needs, it's great.

I have the same skimmer, but i dont see the drain plug. Where is it located?
prfinest07 2 years ago
On mine, it is located on the bottom side of the collection cup. There was a little black rubber plug that sticks out, which I had to remove.
By the way, my Super Skimmer 220 started leaking where the red nob is. I replaced the skimmer with an MR-2 model. I have a video of that as well.
