  • I'm still enjoying this one on my channel page! Viewers of this might enjoy my hand drawn animated fantasy videos I made, BALDER'S EGG, THE MAGIC ARROWS, THE BLACK WIDOW, etc. on my channel page on you tube! They have narration and dialog with thousands of drawings!

  • OMFG!!!! I remember seeing this as a child and it scaring the absolute hell out of me! My father used to play the Sam Cooke record and it would be creep me out since Sam was shot and killed by a woman named Frankie. When I saw the cartoon, which I caught by accident, I was freaked out. For years I thought I imagined it, because I never saw it again. And noone knew what I was talking about. Thanks for uploading.

  • Fabulous Beatnik era song and art direction. Another UPA animation treasure !

  • i dont get it

  • i saw this at the melbourne international animation festival, it's amazing to see on the big screen. thanks for uploading

  • Seeing this cartoon, Unicorn in the Garden, and The Tell Tale Heart is the first time I have watched these after reading about them in Leonard Maltin's book, Of Mice and Magic! I've been enjoying these and other UPA cartoons on my channel page,You Tube uploads maybe the only way the public can see these lost cartoons until they are sold on dvds! Thanks for the uploads!

  • Grim Natwick animated and designed both Snow White and Betty Boop so one could figure he animated both of the women in Rooty Toot Toot. Great stuff!

  • hehe

  • that lawyer scares me

  • It's kind of weird that Frankie's lawyer was black and then when Frankie shot him he turned white.

  • Maybe she did do it.

  • 最高です、データ原口さんのアニメ史で最近の辺りをやったんで妙にリアルタイム。

  • You have to think about it - If you did this in the Disney style, it would look melodramatic and not believable at all. The flatness of the characters and the spare backgrounds make the story that much more exciting.

  • UPA ... damn. NOBODY did animation like they did. People still can't touch 'em today. And the song's an old favorite of mine, too :)

  • this shit is weird, but i'm glad you (or whoever did) preserved it.

  • much better quality than the other version, thanks!

  • Amazing musicians in the soundtrack.

  • The guy in the white suit really reminds me of the waiter from the Triplets of Bellville!!

  • UPA pure 1950's graphic design. They couldn't do Disney, but were so good that Disney ended up being influenced by them.

  • everyone was influence by UPA

many of the animators were disney strikers

  • Like Grim Natwick!

  • yes they could do disney. infact some of them did its just they were not happy with disney style

  • UPA was the shit, plain and simple.

  • goodtimes goodtimes :)

  • Wow-that was absolutely amazing-the animation is stunning.

  • And through it all, she ends up in jail.

  • love this short!

  • I had this on a tape as well! It's been years and I can STILL remember the songs in this video!

  • ahh that start of the atomic age

  • Pretty amazing in every way. Gotta love that colour palette.

  • That was really good. I really like the UPA style.

  • You almost can't miss that that's Thurl Ravenscroft's deep distinctive voice.

  • Truly a beautiful display of aesthetic animation!

little known fact: The voice for Honest John the Crook also provided the voice for Kirby the vaccuum in "The Brave Little Toaster" and Tony the Tiger

  • 5 stars for sure!

  • I saw this in school today and had to watch it again. I love the ending! I love all of it, but that was a fantastic ending. It also opened my mind to styles beyond "realistic"

  • This cartoon was awarded the 41st place in "The 50 Greatest Cartoons: As Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals".

  • Wow. Just... Wow. My first time seeing it. Must have never made it past the network censors when I was kid watching classic cartoons on CN and Nick in the early and mid 90's.

  • ...watched it again and noticed (overlooked it before)

Olga Lunick's name in credits as choreographer, also was

responsible for the big ballet scene in 'Ballet-Oop'!

  • Bosustow's bunch does it again!!

  • Fantastic. It is classic slike this that inspire future animators and songwriters. i too hopemore animated shorts make their way back into theater.
