I just made the switch from an iPhone, and have been really happy with the decision. I like the WP7 OS quite a bit, and much better than iOS in some perspectives. Particularly all of the social integration. Posting to someone's facebook wall right from the phone's address book is pretty cool!

A lot of my iPhone friends want to give the WP7 a shot after playing with mine.

I hope Mango blows up the platform because I want that blue Nokia N9/Sea Ray with the WP7 OS!!

@fatcrewz You can. When you go to the messaging app, you have a 'threads' section and an 'online' section. Online section shows both fb and win live. ym isn't there yet or gchat though.

in "groups", be good that once a group is set up, you can also group-chat (without having to invite people), at least, on live messenger if not facebook. of course for people that dont have live-messenger they'll be left out, or these people must create a live id when activating the phone the first time around.

Hi, I live in the Nethelands and currently WP7 is not officially supported here, I understand that phones currently here in English will stay English after the update, but will it be possible to have Dutch word suggestions while writing text, and will we be able to access the marketplace and download the dutch apps that are already on there?

As for social network, that is just a tiny part of the Mango update. There are many new enterprise features, massive updates to email, Zune, Xbox Live, photos, etc.

I'm comparing WP7 to iPhone since it obviously tries to emulate iPhone's success, even giving up WM6's strength to copy some of the bad stuff about iPhone, like having to go through some stupid centralized software to sync and copy stuff, no copy&paste, etc. back to the animation thing, sure, it only costs half a second as you said, but it's such a basic function of a touch based phone, one swipe takes half a second more, it will add up.

I'm glad someone here mentioned Xbox because it got me thinking. Who thought that Microsoft had any business being in the video game industry back when Xbox was first released? And now look at it. Xbox isn't some third rate brand that is just kept afloat by Microsoft's marketing strength. It is one of the most popular gaming systems out there. Who's to say that Microsoft can't do the same thing with smart phones? From what I've seen so far they have created something really interesting.

@MartialBob It's not really that they created such a killer system. It's that it was the only option other than the PS3. The original Xbox was incredible, I'll give them that. One of the best gaming consoles I've ever used, but the Xbox 360 is extremely disappointing by comparison. People use it over the PS3 because it's cheaper. They also have a superior live service but you can't judge a console just on it's live functionality.
