Bertrand Russel once said "When you're studying any matter or considering any philosophy, look only at: What are the facts?" As a kid and as a teenager I always felt responsible for everything that went on around me (partially because my father was such a useless, lazy manchild). I think the way you present yourself when you go about confronting your parents can make a huge difference on how seriously they will take you. If you don't look them in the eyes, if you don't come across as confident when you say "I'm my own person and I have to make choices for myself." then they're probably going to belittle or emotionally manipulate you because they see that it might actually work given your lack of assertiveness.

@GoreuRSProdutions I considered standing up, going to the alter, and saying exactly that to the entire congregation but I got the feeling that I would be sent to the therapist immediately afterward. Last time I went to a church was early August and I don't plan on going back any time soon. The only problem will be if/when weddings and funerals come around.
i've been through a small situation like that, my dad doesn't believe, my step mom believes, when i was a kid, like 11, my mom kept trying to make me go to church, i did go like almost 10 times, i got bored and tired of it though, idk what to believe in, but church isn't really that fun or great lol, my dad just argued with her saying i'm not going and there xD i never went
I basically did exactly what TJ said when I was a teenager living with my parents and it worked wonderfully. I never told them to "go fuck themselves," as that would have been counterproductive, but flat out refusal to do what they said worked all the time. Not everyone's parents will give in like mine did (it wasn't always easy) but if you haven't even tried, try it, or try a little harder than you have been.

Listen to him, kids. I am living testament to what he sais. As a kid and as a teenager I always felt responsible for everything that went on around me (partially because my father was such a useless, lazy manchild). I always felt I had to be the grown up and be sensible and rational and I didn't want to bother anybody by having feelings and a will of my own. Now I am old and I'm a resentful shut in who can't stand conflict and has no personality. I'm not joking and I'm not being sarcastic.

I think the way you present yourself when you go about confronting your parents can make a huge difference on how seriously they will take you. If you don't look them in the eyes, if you don't come across as confident when you say "I'm my own person and I have to make choices for myself." then they're probably going to belittle or emotionally manipulate you because they see that it might actually work given your lack of assertiveness.

@GoreuRSProdutions I considered standing up, going to the alter, and saying exactly that to the entire congregation but I got the feeling that I would be sent to the therapist immediately afterward. Last time I went to a church was early August and I don't plan on going back any time soon. The only problem will be if/when weddings and funerals come around.

I basically did exactly what TJ said when I was a teenager living with my parents and it worked wonderfully. I never told them to "go fuck themselves," as that would have been counterproductive, but flat out refusal to do what they said worked all the time. Not everyone's parents will give in like mine did (it wasn't always easy) but if you haven't even tried, try it, or try a little harder than you have been.

This is thanks to a mass die-off among humans that we found in our genes. It has also been thoroughly proven that supposed racial traits such as height and intelligence are much more strongly affected by diet than genetic factors.

The most wildly genetically different (healthy) humans are more similar to each other than any two (non-inbred, healthy) dogs of the same breed. Racial differences have been demonstrated to reflect diet much more than genetics, so far as say height or intelligence are concerned.
