What i really love about this clip is Macduff rambling about his wife and children. It really proves how much he loves them, and it warms my heart amid all this violence, corruption, and bloodshed.
Look at it this way: in Scotland at this time, the throne isn't hereditary. Malcolm wouldn't become king after Duncan's death if there were more qualified thanes to fill the void. Macbeth, being the recently promoted thane of Cawdor, was actually next in line for the kingship, hence why he became king after Duncan's murder.
If he'd merely waited for the old Duncan to die, he might've still had the throne.
Funny how its meant to be a Scottish set play yet none of the actors ever really have a Scottish accent. Macbeth in this only slightly has one, as if it's put on.
@bdjewelmoon According to Wikipedia, he is just an "old man". In the actual play, he appears in another scene, when he discusses Duncan's death with one of the King's friends.
@bdjewelmoon I felt I should make a correction. I found out afterwards, he's actually only in the scene after Duncan's death is discovered. For some reason, they edited it here. The words at the end are actually spoken at the end of the scene I mentioned. They actually fit better at the end.
Is that Brian Cox doing the voice of Macbeth? I love his voice. As I love this entire movie. I think Shakespeare did a great job writing this story. Thanks for posting.
I wouldn't say that Macbeth is a story about murder and betrayal. it's about how when if you kill once, you have to cover up again and again and therefore you can't stop and then it will destroy you, and that power can go so far as destroying a good person and turn them into a monster who will do anything for power.
Hey is the lion king is a little bit base on "Macbeth" I mean Macbeth (scar) killed King Duncan (Mufasa) than became king and surrounded Scotland (Pridelands) with darkness than Macduff (Simba) cane back a defeated Macbeth (Scar) than became the new king and darkness fled away, I say the lion king it's a little bit like Macbeth because 1.The Main Character (need I say more) 2.Scar didn't have any guilt killing Mufasa as Macbeth was going crazy with the guilt of mudering.
@TheLewis110 thought it was more like the witches only told him that he would become king, not that he would murder the king. he had Banquo killed in hopes that the assassins would get Fleance cuz the witches said that Banquo's sons would be king, and because Macbeth murdered him, he thought that Banquos sons would do the same to him. Lady Macbeth killed herself cuz she was guilty about Duncan. its more a story of Ambition, paranoia, murder and guilt.
@verkaforever She basically went in the opposite order of morality that her husband did. She started off ambitious and amoral, spurring Macbeth to kill Duncan and whatnot. If not for her, Macbeth would have called the whole thing off.
But from then on, as Macbeth became hardened to such actions, Lady Macbeth began to actually feel the qualms that Macbeth had at the start. Near the play's end, her husband has become a brutal madman, and it's entirely her fault.
@cav0129 I know. For instance, Lady Macbeth doesn't accuse her husband of cowardice in refusing to kill Duncan, we are given little relationship between Macduff and Malcolm other that they are fighting Macbeth's tyranny. And only half of the most famous quote from Macbeth is presented! I know this was meant to last 30 minutes, but I just think these are crucial to the play
wow!! thnx dude I have an English test tomorrow so instead of reding the play again I watched this :D now I'm prepared for the exam!! oh but in 1:20 there weren't any naked guys in the play..
7:44 the beheaded of macbeth was sooooo fucking BRUTAL, i love it! It be awesome if they show this uncensored version on a channel like cartoonnetwork or nick toons, i'd sure be watching it. but anyways the story is dark, how greed drive any human insane like that. its actually not a great play and im not usually into this kind of stuff nor am i into poems or into shakespeare but weird enough i actually understood the cryptic old english language and i have to say its pretty cool.
Could anyone explain to me about how this story goes? i watched the whole thing but i never read it before. and was kind of confused when i was watching this.
MacBeth may be the protagonist, I think MacDuff is the real hero in this. I feel sorry for him loosing his wife and children. Can't blame him for wanting vengance fore their murders.

Hi i'm wondering if anyone knows the name of the animated film or programme described > i remember seeing it as a kid and i forgot the name of it. the only things i remember was couple of scenes where this god guy coold change his size. and then an army hide in sacks in a barn to ambush their enemy but they get spotted and killed by the same soldier who throws a toddler into the fire to start a battle with them. anyone have any idea what i'm describing. Much help if they can think of anything.
