Playing Castlevania Judgment, I now see what Iga meant when he said that Sypha & Maria are scary. Or at least how he thinks of them has been relayed through the game.
Actually, in Japan these are the kinds of interview questions that they ask celebrities (partially). Plus you see how often Iga got asked the same questions such as the one about the Wii, and look what happens! He makes a Wii fighting game with art by the pervert who draws Death Note. So I think that he appreciated the change of pace, (and I'm sure that they asked him other things as well).
They are kind of placating him by letting him have a few questions, but 1up/EGM are real Castlevania fans, so they mean no disrespect. I suppose if there were no language barrier, things wouldn't seem so patronizing.
"What is a man?" Well, if it's Iga we're talking about, quite a man indeed! I was cracking up when he didn't know how to get to Bodley Mansion! lol Wicked interview, and Shane's a cool guy.
Saa, omoshiroi desu ne? It reminds me of Japanese interviews of Hollywood actors, where the focus seems to be more on how entertaining the interview is rather than the promotion of the product.
64 had a good premise & story, but I think the graphics & controls needed work. Plus they cut out about half of the promised content. Look for the Dracula 3D video to see what we missed out on.
maybe the controls (camera) could be hard to use, but It was the only 3Dvania that i enjoyed to play with all that action and the old style of a real castlevania
I thought that they improved it with Legacy of Darkness, but after playing Symphony of the Night many people (including myself) had very high expectations for that first 3D game.
Legends was pretty disappointing too. Some people may still dislike the game but feel protective of it since it was removed from the timeline. Maybe if Castlevania 64 came out before SotN the game would have been regarded better. Having a button just to pick up items I still find bizarre.
any case it was kicked from chronology, but 64vanias and CotM (one of the best) are still good enough to stay, the problem its only about names D: and some forgotten history points
Admittedly the Kobe team broke some of the rules to make the 64 games, & Circle of the Moon. But just because they're out of the timeline doesn't make them invalid in any way. A lot of video game series have retconned certain games from their timeline, including series like Contra, Metal Gear, & Zelda... it's nothing personal.
Mmmm u think changing Reinhart Schneider for Reinhart Belmont could be possible? it 'd be cool =) Reinhart adventures are harder than Leon's or Hektah
It's funny you should say that because one of the many changes made during development of CV64 was the main character's name. Up until it's last showing they were still calling him Schnieder Belmont. I never found the game too hard, just challeging. But Lament and Curse's "@Crazy" modes (unlocked when you beat each game)... those are ridiculously hard! In fact I refuse to play Curse's crazy mode at all because it's so unforgiving!
As for Haunted Castle, well... the Japanese version was much more balanced. They should have added it and all of Simon's other games to the first Chronicles... especially since they pluralized the title in the US.
I don't mind it's difficulty, but having only 3 continues is bogus. Especially for an arcade game, you'd think that Konami would want kids to keep putting in quarters to get better & beat the game. Had I seen this in the arcade back then I would've wasted a lot of money on it lol.
Having to keep starting over would have discouraged me though. Even the Ghosts & Goblins series had unlimted continues, and they still stand as some of the hardest games ever!
plz konami make those 3ds catlvania to psp plz idont wana buy another hand held

@soric16 This interview was done during the promotion for Dracula X Chronicles, so Shanoa's game Order of Ecclesia wasn't announced yet.

Iga gets asked the same questions all the time, I imagine that it was refreshing to have an interview do something different.

I have a lot of respect for the EGM/1UP staff, but I heard that many of them were fired recently.

I'm glad IGA specified Maria at which age. XD

I did too, still do. I think more interviews with Iga, Yamane & Kojima should be like this.

sucks that they wasted time with such boring questions.

Why do I get the feeling these people are making fun of both Iga and Castlevania?

hehe yeah i agree on Legends... that was really lame to cannot using subweapons D:! and the history was too cheap
somacruzfirm 3 years ago 2
And they replaced the subweapons with elemental powers, (like ice to freeze time) talk about left field.
