I think a lot of times they act to exaggerate the circumstances... mainly for ratings..

I live in Houston and have undergone some serious hurricanes, but for the most part these reporters are typical mainstream screwballs that that stretch the truth beyond reality.

Anybody not accustomed to this type of weather hasn't a clue. Ignorance is bliss.
