War makes monsters out of all who are affected by it, YET look at the little girl grabbing his leg though. He could be a monster .... but he is defending something. He could be like most kids but he is choosing to take a stand. His parents are either dead or far away, but I know they would be proud of him seeing him fighting to protect his sister or a complete stranger who needs him.

That is the makings of a hero comrades in my opinion.
