Well if you like sticky dust rice , just go for it , but other wise the rice is dirty from a lot of dust and it needs to be clean very well until the water is clear ! You just have to clean it a little more and then it is clean , so it is not that difficult ! :-)

Dust is dirt and bacterias and you do need to clean that away !

@SandraChristinaC Despite your horrific grammar I managed to read your message. The 'dust' is excess starch from the rice its self, not 'dirt'. Although there will be outside bacteria on all food you eat, the reason for washing your rice isn't to clean it, it's to ensure it cooks properly.

your lid has holes in it, so its not a tight fit! u forget to mention this. this is important as it lets the steam out just like a rice cooker does.

Hi Jo, get a rice cooker, saves all the messing. I don't like the plates, there'd be dinner all over the place if I used them, you need a proper bowl so you can get a good shovelling acting going.
