Splendid to see that there are other people besides myself who like "M.I.U." The crytics slated it, even the band hated it ... But to me, it's the most consistent and overall best album they'd done in at least 7 or 8 years, and I play it ten times more than any of their other LPs from the 70s.
As for "L.A.", "Goodtimin'" is a gem, as is "Lady Linda", the rest of the album didn't leave much of an impression on me at all.
when Brian took his time out in the late 60's and into the 70's Carl was and continued to be the Backbone of the band holding it together until his un-timely death. RIP Carl, you were one hell of a muscian!
@alexandertarangerkin Uh, Love You sucked too. Actually so did the preceding album, 15 Big Ones. Listen folks, you don't have to love those albums just because psycho King Brian was the driving force behind them.
I consider 15 Big Ones being their first directly bad album ( the only song i kinda like on it is Back Home), Love you is very mixed...I think Let Us Go On This Way, I bet he's nice, the night was so young, and lets put our heart together were really interesting in their sound with all the synth and are on their own pretty good songs ^^ but ye 1965-1973 was their best era
@peterp21 Love You's great. All the brilliance that people give Pet Sounds credit for, except the strings and horns are replaced with synths with Brian and Dennis' voices positively shot, but all the better suited for these songs. Wouldn't have it any other way.
@JuxtaposeMystery Oh really? Have you listened to the silly turd called Love You? I know Brian can do no wrong to his cultists, but try to listen to the album and pretend it wasn't Brian that wrote or sang on it.
@alexandertarangerkin No Love didn't get control of the band till the late 80's or early 90's. Carl had controlling interest in Brother Records and who ever has controls Brother controls the band.
@runnersdialzero333 Regarding Carl being involved like Mike, consider that this song and one other off the album were written with Carl's buddy Randy Bachman from the Bachman Turner Overdrive. Every other song (except one Chuck Berry cover and one Bruce song) were written by Brian with Mike. So Carl does share the blame with the rest of the band for a poor album. Plus remember, Carl could sing but he wasn't a prolific or very notable songwriter.

did you hear, its true this time, the beach boys really are Reuniting this summer for a tour and album, look it up!

Had this song had a bit more "mature" lyric it would be even beter than it is.

Brian Wilson looks like a bum off the streets in this video, good god!

Carl kicking it imo

i love every beach boys record; and this one song is good resistance.
sad thing is that nowadays nobody fights like them in search of good songs and melodies, and there will never be another band like beach boys.

Carl Wilson. Dennis Wilson. Brian Wilson. Their father Murry Wilson had lifelong effects on these 3 brothers.
