Just because he plays the "most played" character doesn't mean he sucks or at all is a lesser player than other people. Just because you pick a shitty unplayed character doesn't make you any more good or better.

@Blizziced Charge characters are the lamest in every game. Guile, Blanka, Boxer, etc. Ryu may be the most popular, but he is not the best. People that play Sagat because he is the strongest in most games would fit your hate criteria though.

The character you play should only fit your personal play style or aesthetic choice, and match up knowledge from there makes you a pro. Daigo has proven on several occasions that he has vast knowledge of all of the characters in SF by winning so often.

I have realized that Ryu isnt that powerfull. But he is still the character wich is most ballanced and is one of the only characters who can combine his ultra and super. My reason for my first message was that i think Daigo isnt that good just cause he can be great with a well ballanced character, I think that its alot more amazing if he was great with a more unballanced character. Its like being the best of the best at medium if you kno what i meen.

@Blizziced Unbalanced goes both ways though. If he were as good as he is with Ryu with a character that is unbalanced negatively (like say, Dan), then that would make him amazing. He is great with a balanced character that is middle of the tier list and beats people that use unbalanced characters that are at the top of the tier list. That makes him amazing still.

It's like Justin Wong being godlike at MvC2. He can beat people using low tier teams, or at least come very close to winning.

Actually, I don't think any of the famous japanese players are fulltime gamers. Just like in America, Japanese society would view any fulltime gamer as a loser and embarassment on their family (even though Daigo probably makes 6 figures U.S. dollars a year from gaming, not so much tournament wins as doing articles, tv shows, etc.)

lol.. Daigo does not make 6 figures from gaming or at all. He makes a little from those tv appearances, almost nothing for articles, interviews like this are basically free, and he maybe makes 5-10 k in a good year from fighting games (MM, winning tournaments, etc.). Now he is sponsored by madcats, but I'm not even sure if that is a salary based sponsorship or "free stuff" based... but either way its nowhere near 100k+. He's a nurse so he probably makes $30-40 an hour otherwise.
