This is on a Mac, not a PC. Sorry to dissapoint.

As far as I know, for raw midi creation, there is nothing I know better or easier than garageband (even with all it's advance techniques.) I've tried FL studio, and honestly, it's difficult, and very tricky to understand, but it can do all the same stuff.

But garageband also gives you sheet music.

I LOVE MAC'S there the best, i used to have one but it now its like 1000 years old (4) so i use my vista machine, i like macs though, im getting a new mac some time, idk when tho

Wow this is actually pretty cool. I just got an iMac (the one with the huge ass screen) and I'd probably take me a long time to know how to do this on Garage Band xD!

just play around with it, you'll get it. For starters, Command(apple)+click creates a track for your track, and in the track on the bottom, Command+click makes a note.
