oh i forgot that you're of course the dylan expert. i'm not gonna hold this conversation with you any longer beacause i don't want to get down to your anal humour. good bye
I know "House" is supposed to be a great show...Im sure it is. However I cant enjoy Hugh playing it straight. To me he will always be best as a comedian as in these old clips or the stupid Prince Regent from Blackadder!
it WAS funny as much as dylan is a massive artist, i dont think you see by stumbling those specific lines i think hes trying to say dylan always goes on about how people are poor and the government is rich etc and people should do something about it. but it isnt jsut a flippant as that hense he has no answer either
Hugh Laurie is soooooo musically talented then & now pre- and post-House. This impression/"protest song" cracks me up (and i love Bob Dylan and now his son Jakob Dylan). Just sooooo funny for the times. Jeeves & Wooster live on forever.
I wasn't getting upset about it! In fact, knowing Fry & Laurie, they would deliberately make a 'nod' in the direction of Dylan/The Band - that's why it is funny on a number of levels.
You can't beat the original - especially the collaboration with the Staples Singers!
I was never a Hugh Laurie fan untill I saw "House". And to be honest for 5 years I ignored the show House because I thought it was gonna be stupid. Well sitting home one night I caught the show on syndication and I've been hooked ever since. Now it is one of my favs. I remember seeing the commercials for House and thinking his Name House was some play on words like he was an hotel doctor so I said "this is dumb". I will never judge a show before watching it again.
Aha.... :D Thank you, I knew Black Adder much sooner than Dr.House (which of course made him famous much more) was released. And I really do not understand, why I got "thumb down" for this.
Have you seen what bob is doing next a christmas album, of him singing christmas carols it's four times as funny as this and it's ment to be serious /watch?v=gundu1yLjWY.
People are always looking to artists for the answers. When Hugh mumbled, thats where you insert your own answer. Really, only your own answer is perfect for you. He doesnt know how to cure the ills of the world anymore than anyone else. Im American and I LUV BRITIAN. Thank you crazy bastards for ALL the great entertainment over the years. Not that funny/ good of an impression of Bob. He coulda done alot with Bob's voice, His crazy ryhmes, extravagant imagery... but he didn't. You also almost always know what Bob is saying- maybe I'm missing the point, but the dropping of the word isn't a valid critique of Dylan. Dylan is very easy to make fun of, but Hugh didn't really hit on anything that Bob actually does.
I am Canadian by the way, and I have followed his career since his " Blackadder" and "Blackadder goes Forth" days. I enjoy "House" and " A bit of Fry and Laurie", but I think my favorite Hugh Laurie program was another series he did with Stephen Fry, in the early 90's it was called "Wooster and Jeeves"
so sad to think that here in America they think he's just Dr. House...wow, I am ashamed of my preconceptions and of having missed so much of Hugh Laurie..Oh well, best catch up eh?
Not as ashamed as I am as a Briton of the fact that the bastard had to go to America to showcase his talents as a fully-fledged dramatic actor on House M.D..
We took him for granted as Bertie Wooster and The Bloody Prince Regent, when the guy is so much more than a comedian - and now we'll probably not get him back again.
I just hope Hollywood doesn't chew him up and spit him out again, but lets him do more than House, because he's starting to show signs of tedium on his interviews.
Yea, how tragic for Hugh. To play a complex character in a well written drama with humor and depth. I see the youtube know-it-alls are alive and well. Yawn.
I was just thinking of something quite similar to post when I saw this, thanks for saving me the trouble. It always amazes me how someone "sells out" as soon as they are a success and watched by millions of people. The merit or quality of that show has NOTHING to do with it, if a lot of people watch it they sold out.
Love the yay he tosseled his hair! If it was longer... just maybe. He even kinda sounds like a real folk singer. Love Hugh Love Bob this is funny as anything!
What makes it funny is that earlier Bob sometimes didn't make it close enough to the mic and kinda muttered a little bit.
Meh. The best part of this is how a mediocre send-up of an entertainment icon sparked World Wide Web War III in these comments. Americans are stupid, the British should have been nuked, and Greeks are so backward that they don't have TV. Priceless. The perfect microcosm of this confrontational mess of a planet.

America, is America because of that.
