@bhweller The story of Ganesha is the inspiration for worshipping him. Inspite of so many odds with his artificial head, not handsome (ugly) body, obesity when compared to his brother Kathikeya who is handsome, skilled, gracious he wins the race for the supremeness by just devotion to his parents.
The raags are: bhairav - deshkar - jai jaiwanti - malkauns - kedar - patdeep - bihag - durga - basant - vrindavani sarag for the ten avatars and the a beautiful bhairavi sign-off.
These are Hindustani raag. I'm sure that there are corresponding Carnatic names as well.
The lion is the 4th incarnation of the preserver, Lord Vishnu. This incarnation's name in Narasimha (meaning: half man, half lion). This half man and lion was made in an effort to vanquish a ferocious demon named Hiranyakashupu. The particular scene at 3:16 shows the actual murder of that demon by Lord Vishnu in his form as Narasimha. This song is talking about all of the different forms Lord Vishnu takes to protect His devotees.
We must be truly blessed to be able to see the festivities like Theppotsavam etc as well as hear such a wonderful devotional sweet voice singing while we are in the far off lands ! Thanks immenselly ! It moves us to tears . You have done all a great service to the bhaktas.
Please, could you post Smt.MSSubbulakshmi's " Kulam tarum -Narayana yennum divya namam" ? I have been trying to get it since a long time ! Please help! Thanks
the father had a boon dat he wont b killd in day, night, weapon or by man god, demon hence the lord killd him in evening with his nails taking d form of NARSINGH(MAN+LOIN+GOD)
such terrifying was his form that none save one could dare see him, the son for whom d lord came,he it was who pacified the lord,we Hindus r free to worship anything, any time with any method subjected to some obvious principles of tolerence
interestingly a hindu can b an athiest,christian,budhist,also
u need to seek no pardon for the picture is itself confusing more so if i tell u that that entity is a form of the god himself!!!!!
the legend says once a mighty demon king (being killed by the lord in pic) had a son(to left in pic) devoted to Lord vishnu(krishna) his father hated Vishnu and asked son to abonden the worship but son rejected, the father then used all methods good n bad to have his son killed but for God he was saved,
All the humans have two bad qualities , via the EGO and IGNORANCE those two are depicted as brothers Hiranyakasipu and HiranyAksha ( two Demons ) and Only Vishnu In his Narasimha ( half lion and half Human ) form can take away those, He is known as Nrusimha .... oh my god he is karuna jaladhi ( the ocean of compasion )
