Alien was the best hands down because of how realistic it was. Sure, the life-form of interest is a crazy idea, but the grittiness and coldness of the future was exposed. The future may not be what we expect. Blade Runner showcased the future in this light, too. It just so happens that they were both under the same direction. Also, this was the first movie that really portrayed a woman as the hero, instead of the damsel in distress. It forever changed the landscape of film making.
