Excellent set of videos! I have had the Christian Prayer book since my college days and suddenly got the desire to dig it out again today. I have watched your whole series of videos to refresh my memory on how to use this great prayer resource. God bless!
Great video, I'm sure this has been very helpful for many.
The most literal translation of the end of the Glory Be would be along the lines of "As it was in the beginning, and is now, and always is, and in ages of ages" (et in saecula saeculorum doesn't really translate into English). Judging by the rest of the English translation of The Hours, I doubt the Glory Be was translated the way it was to be more accurate!
Thanks for the post :D I have the Christian prayers book but I sometimes struggle using it. I found a website that podcasts it everyday... I follow along when I can but i just listen- thanks for the post though :D
thank you for teaching us this. I had never heard it before this year. I'm a little old so it is unusual that I didn't know it by now. BUt I appreciate your help. thanks a lot! and have a good Lent! That is my prayer for you and for all Catholics like us.
Hi, would you please give me a step-by-step guide to praying the complete Liturgy of the Hours if you have time? I'm really confused. I don't know where to start.
Many thanks for this video. My wife and I are members of the Benedictine Oblates and we pray the Night Prayer with this group. It is so refreshing to see a young person praying this prayer. God bless you and keep up the good work.
Great job! One note though. The translation that the LOTH uses for "As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever" is correct insofar as it is the approved translation of the Latin into the English. However, it is a very sparse translation and doesn't really do justice to the original. The more generally accepted version is closer to both the spirit and language of the latin.
Young lady, you have just blown me away! I'm an old Catholic, the last of my family, and you have boosted me up. God Bless You and KEEP AFTER THE FAITH. Just great! Merry Christmas.
@CrazyClaire88 This is a great question! This happens to me a lot actually, or sometimes I'll be praying with friends who can't sing very well. We either skip the hymn or just read the words instead of singing.
Thanks for posting this. I recently bought the Christian Prayer and I'm trying to get the hang of it. I'll start with these nightly prayers for now, so at least I'm doing something.
I hope you have time to do videos for Morning and Evening Prayer.
@TheGreatSteve You expect me NOT to be offended if you say something like that? If you don't have a religion then don't watch this video. Surely you have better things to do with your time than telling religious people that they are dumb, especially since you will never change my mind about God.
@TheGreatSteve Steve doesn't really question the origin of things. He just takes things as they are. He does not have much of the normal human inquisitiveness found in all cultures that look to a religion. When others look to God as the source and origin of all things or pray to such a God, he fights against it with a simple dismissal because the implications of God's existence scares him.

Thanks so much for this. I'm getting into this and yes, the "Christian Prayer" red book is really confusing!

It is nice to see that a lady your age takes time to pray the Hours. I didn't begin until I was much older. God bless

This is probably a random question - but the hymn you sing during night prayer..... what if you don't know the tune?

@CrazyClaire88 If you do not know the melody to the hymn then chanting is a great alternative.
