I freaking love marine man! having such high kill streaks all thanks to the melee system. When people try to use casters i just shoot at it and it disorients them or if im near them just punch. Aliens are impossible to lose too because they cant charge, pounce, or tail you unless they're on a wall/ceiling. I tried melee'ing a predator to death was so hard i hope someday i can xD. I punched blocked punched he then hit me before i could block again, punch, block etc. ..continued

@junfan1234 Yes you can block focus pounces by both predators and aliens, if you see an alien staring right at you from a surface try to get him to pounce you instead of shooting for an easy win.

Counters don't work 90% of the time because lag. It should also be noted that counters marine vs predator do not stun the predator, so if you block a light attack and counter with a melee attack, the predator can still instantly start a heavy attack before you can get off another melee attack.

i dont think you can do anything...for example if they grab you from behind you will always die...if they grab you from the front you might survive for example...if you do a focus atack with the predator onto a marine and he falls, if the predator grabs the marine the marine will counter atack....it depends on your health...if you have a lot of health the marine will counter atack if grabed by the front, if hes health is low, then he will die

i found how a marine blocks trophy kills he automatically does it but it only will work if he is pounced then grabed or he hits a block attack and the enemy light attacks him then grabs for kill

@armyboypyro if you have more than one block of hp and go into a blocking stance while being grabbed you should block it.... What i do is keep tapping the block buttons while getting grabbed (usually works for me)

Actually, as you can see, a Predator focused attack causes less than a block of health. I mean, the 3rd health segment can heal back, where as the other hits where right between segments, so they can't heal back (unless you use stims, obviously). LOL

the stratedgy is all the same for all races atleast it is on ps3 demo, if someone is going to light attack you, you block and then you can easily destroy the attacker by spamming light attacks back after you block. But your screwed if they come in with a heavy attack... The other stealth tactics are random to work or not... What I like to do when fighting a human is leap attack and while he is stunned for a little bit heavy attack and quickly light attack and that way he cant shoot me long enuf

@tidomann I myself have tried several times, as a marine I can block light attacks, and I use melee right afterwards and it seems the alien or predator are completely unphased and kill me before I can shoot. How I confirm a hit is the thud not the woosh. when I melee'd several times it seems the second melee attack would make the opponent actually reel back, then I could shoot them safely while back pedaling.

For the record you cant counter predators you can just stop them attacking cuz they wont be stunned longer then it takes you to be able to shoto again same goes for stoppin alien heavy attacks Only useful mellee is human after blocking Alien light attack

An alien is about 2 heavy attack me..(i know i can't block heavy attacks) i melee attack at once, and then go into block, cause most of the time the enemy will get stressed and start spamming light attack and thats where i block and then counter attack him.. BAAAM dead :D ohh and yes you can counter predators,, he don't fall over but he gets knocked/dazed back, and thats long enought 2 blast him back 2 jupitor :D

When I'm being attacked by an alien, I block, melee and shoot.

When I'm being attacked by a Predator, I block, melee, shoot and die.

Those with the skill to control it will stand out, button mashers will ultimately fail.

Yes, branman, this is the entire game. You find someone, stand in front of eachother in a gentlemanly manner, and choose an attack. You may not strafe, wall-crawl, flank, sprint, focus-jump, use ranged weaponry, hone your environmental awareness, or employ any other tactics whatsoever.

Perhaps if they had chosen a halo-style melee system allowing competitors to mash a button until the other falls over then the game would be competitive.
