Some great shots! I've been filming the "Yellow Shafted" variety of Northern Flicker. It's been fun watching him so far, and hopefully I'll get some interesting nesting footage to share here as well. Thanks for sharing this! -D-
Great camera and sound work! Thanks for sharing. We enjoy watching these birds use their long tongue to devour ants, too many of which make hills in our lawns. The flickers also tend to girdle trees with bore holes to induce the flow of sap and attract ants and other insects they enjoy to dine on.
i just seen one in my yard 4 the 1st , looked it up on the net cuz i had no clue what this was, what a unique preety patterend bird, got a few pics too!
This is wonderful! I adore flickers. There are some that nest every year in an old pole across the street from my house and I get so much pleasure out of watching them with the binoculars. I also really enjoy all the sounds they make.
Just a regular little Panasonic video camera. I was fortunate that this nest was in a tree in my back yard so I was able to set up my video camera on a tripod on my deck and just let it run. Then I would go back and look at the footage to see what I was able to capture. There was also a zoom feature for the microphone which allowed me to pick up some fairly decent sound too. This is the culmination of at least 10 hours of videotaping over a period of 9 weeks. Thanks for stopping by!
