Too much emphasis on spousal trust here. Only some of the sailors on board are married! There are single men too, and there are already incidences with men starting to act inappropriately with each other on these deployments and they don't think they might be getting in for more trouble as women are integrated into the sub force?
Whoopie is full of shit. Didn't she have a kid out of wedlock? And then her kid had a kid too? Obviously, they couldn't control themselves. You know there will be pregnancies. I say make the woman keep working and doing her duty. It's their body, their problem. Do your damn job.
Whatever, I am embracing the change. Same arguements when women were allowed on surface combatant ships and the same issues happened/will happen. Move on people. It's a done deal without the typical govermental right wing buricratic fanfare.
they dont know what they are talking about.have they ever been on a Submarine?as long as gender preference is in place as far as physical fitness are in place.
this should not be put in place.
If they want to lets make a sub 100% women and see how they do.
On board underway on a Submarine when a problem/casualty(damage control not personnel) all hands are expected to act.folks I build them, and let me tell you , the redesign issues are going to be a nightmare.
It's been a long time since I watched this show. I don't know the name of the white woman with the long brown hair - but of course, I would expect some women to chime in with a squeaky "BUT I TRUST MY HUSBAND!" and "WOMEN ARE BEING HELD BACK!" Trust me, if she found out that some girl had been chasing her husband, flirting, "passing by him and rubbing up against him" in the manner they're describing in such close quarters, she would start to get insanely jealous. What a stupid comment.
Unless you've been a participating party in such an act i don't know how you could be so sure of this.
Maybe i a minority but i really don't understand why people lie to themselvess and think they cannot live without sex for a few months.
THAT being said, if i was single and had spent months without sex and the opportunity prosented itself, yeah it is probably a bad idea to put women on subs.
I'm all for equal opportunities, but as a Navy Submariner's Wife, I do NOT agree with women serving beside my husband. I trust my husband, it's not a sex issue for me. If there's a fire and my husband is working w/a woman in a small section of the boat, will a woman be able to carry my 6'3" 220 pound husband to safety?? Doubtful. If a woman decides it's too much and gets herself pregnant so she won't deploy, there are NOT dozens of guys who have all the right training just waiting to take over.
Have you ever been on a sub? Even a tour of one? There will be witnesses to anything that is going on. There is no privacy on a sub. So yeah, if something happens, even if if it's just groping or offensive comments, you're stuck for the duration of the tour with not only the perpetrator(s) but also the witnesses. And you can have countless tours where nothing happens but the one that does will raise issues for the rest to come.
wow. this is like the first time a topic has come up on the view and my response is "i don't know."
of course, if men do it, women should be able to. and, frankly, if you cheat on your spouse, it's really not gonna matter whether you were on a sub for 90 days or not. but the question of sexual harassment is relevant. i could imagine a scenario where a woman would be in a tight corner, especially with no witnesses and having to wait until the tour is over for a resolution. tough one.
why do people want to listen to these women's views? It's only a bunch of hens in a henhouse....

Really dumb idea. If Obama came up with this, he should be ashamed and embarrassed.
If it's a question of meeting manpower goals, REINSTATE THE DRAFT! This is the DUMBEST idea ever. Men and women are NOT equal!

@navywyf1228 I think Women should have their sub and men should have theirs.... end of story. I think women are very capable of being on there own.
