Speaking of the Elder Scrolls, I played Morrowind quite a lot (reached level 60) and I found it to be too much open world. You can get lost in all those side quests easily. It lacks focus in story telling. But the story is what motivates me to play a game. Especially an RPG. In Morrowind I seldom felt the urge to do something to make a difference in the game. Of course there was always stuff to do but the way it was presented to me it almost always seemed insignificant.
