  • I guess they are modern but are good. shades of lots of things, incredible string band , trees pentangle, etc, plus the communal ethos and visuals like quintessence and principal edwards magic theatre.

  • @puddypuss

Hey thx for recommandations i dig pentangle- but could plz structure your other recommandations more

    like

    bandname-song

i can´t find anything else thank you

  • The harmony reminds me a lot of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. They actually use the same chords I think. Probably one could listen to them simultaneously and they would form a duo.

  • We got to stick to getter if we want to win

  • Reminds me of the best of UK folk. Incredible.

  • fantastic

  • The closest you will get is "acid folk" bands of the late sixties and early seventies. Comus and Trees are a definite influence on Espers...

  • Omg...I recognize this beautiful song.

  • Great great band!!! Thanx for posting Espers :) :)

  • I heard the song only a few times and bought the CD. I Love Espers :)!

  • Gargantuan---Check some of the late 60s-early 70s bands that influenced Espers:Fairport Convention (early stuff w/ Sandy Denny & Richard Thompson), Steeleye Span, Incredible String Band, Pentangle, Mellow Candle, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Fotheringay, first few Byrds albs, Richard/Mimi Farina, 1st King Crimson alb, Evensong, Hunter Muskett......You'll find a lot of rich stuff from that era. More recently, Fleet Foxes are drinking from the same well & doing some beautiful music.

  • Beautiful music!

  • Thanks for posting this.....there once was not enough Espers on youtube..this is such an enchanting song. I'm going to continue my trance now....

I dig the Incredible String Like photos the most...

  • Very nice. First time hearing them and I'm going to buy an album.

  • Thanks. Great Band/Music.

    Do you have Widow's Weed?

  • I'm trying to find similar bands, but I'm unable to dig up anything I like in the same way that I like this. Does anyone have any suggestions at something that is similarly melodic and multi-layered?

  • Greg Weeks solo stuff is pretty vital if you like the Espers albums. I'd also recommend the likes of Six Organs Of Admittance or Voice Of The Seven Woods for the more experimental side. Or if you want to keep it more folky and gently psyche, things like Fern Knight, Feathers, Meg Baird, Orion Rigel Domisse...

  • Thanks.

I've checked out six organs & fern knight. I like them, but don't satisfy as much as the layered melodies in Espers' songs. A perfect example of what I mean is Dead King, where I can hear 2 guitar parts, a synth part, violin and some sort of woodwind, and they still all manage to texture the music beautifully instead of just making noise. Basically the harmonies are awesome!

I'll be sure to check out your other sugestions

  • You'll really like Greg Weeks solo stuff then from what you say.

  • mariee sioux

  • Thanks a bunch, this was a lot closer to what I wanted than the other recommendations

  • Look up the song Drip Drip by Comus...

    You will love it.

  • @gargantuandick You should check out Brightblack Morninglight. One of my favorites. Very mellow. And they use a Rhodes. It's music you could die to, or love to, or paint to, or kill to, or sleep to. It'll take you deep.

  • @MarkRevival

I have all of Espers first album. Help me promote it and let me add a video response to it! =)

  • @MarkRevival Six organs of Admittance - great

  • @MarkRevival @gargantuandick

You guys should really check out Andrew Douglas Rothbard as well if you like multilayered melodic stuff. Some of it can get pretty intense but it's all amazing, especially the first album.

  • Try.. Six Organs Of Admittance and Alaska in Winter

  • Forseti

  • @gargantuandick

Check out the record "First Utterance" by "Comus."

Also check out the band "Faun Fables." The albums "Mother Twilight" and "Family Album." are my favorite from them.

You really need the entire albums of these bands.

An I-tunes 30 second demonstration won't do. lol

    Hope you like um

  • @gargantuandick try jokers daughter for a bit more happy staff but folky!

  • @gargantuandick If you haven't heard Comus - First Utterance, you should check it out. I'm guessing it was a pretty big influence on these guys.

  • @gargantuandick

    Midlake

  • @gargantuandick Did you check out Steeleye Span?

  • @gargantuandick i might be wrong....but I think Sigur Ros is similar...

  • @Alexisrompemadres you're wrong

  • @gargantuandick

Pentangle is pretty cool and of course bo hanson - lord of the rings

  • @gargantuandick WarPaint

  • @gargantuandick listen to Orion Rigel Dommisse "drink yourself to death" or "chicken"

  • @gargantuandick Check out Solanaceae maybe......watch?v=xL4ucFrkcTc

  • @gargantuandick Not all that similar at all, but if you have never heard them try First Utterance by Comus, and it is hauntingly beautiful. Especially the track The Herald.

  • @DavidKinner Comus- great recommendation thanks ! that is what Youtube is all about .. sharing music

  • @hannahbufton I love that band Incredible String Band, Quintessence, Jan Dukes De Grey, Spirogrya, Forest, Trees, and some Donovan are all amazing too. Not so similar, but I don't see how anyone can like this, and not like King Crimson's first 4 albums.

  • @DavidKinner funny you say that- was listening to Peroria last night :)

  • @gargantuandick There's also Feathers.

  • @gargantuandick Have you tried listening to Mellow Candle?

  • why do you have a picture of wolves in the throne room on here?

  • Just liked the image in relation to this song... but well spotted!

  • Haunting and beautiful...saw them at the M/C Academy last night...took me away!

  • eerie yet so beautiful

  • unique....blessed be.

  • this music makes me feel like im floating

  • beautiful. wow, really cool.

  • Beautiful song .. needs to be re-uploaded with better encode for HD playback.

  • Sounds a bit too technological fer me.... I struggle with toasters.

  • These guys are simply amazing....

They sound like they're from a different time, in a different world.

  • a beautiful mix of acoustic & electric..\o/

  • it's called electroacoustic :D

  • Damn it.... I've been calling it acoustoelectric! I feel a proper numpty now...
