Yeah I'm an American but I sometimes think I have an Canadian Accent I right near your providence I actually went over there it felt like I never left the US except for the loonies and the Canadian dollars I actually plan on moving up there since the US economy is crap
the canadian accents basically sounds american but more proper, almost robotic sounding.
i'm from the south so i basically hear standard american + the southern accent. i know there are different regional canadian accents but the rest of the world is rarely exposed to it
when i'm not watching it, i get an accent like yours...and people around here (prairies) have trouble understanding me when i use it. i can best describe it as a soft valley girl accent (think of the movie clueless) and speaking too quickly so that several words fuse together to make one word (and that's what people have trouble understanding!)
also the overuse of "like," and "um"
also, not a whole lot of enunciation.
but when i try to enunciate more, i feel i sound british lol
I'm fron Connecticut USA and you talk just like me. you don't even really say about funny. Maybe just a tiny bit differently, but not enough to notice without consciously looking for a difference.
Why do u care so much about your accent? I am Brazilian and since english is not my first language, I cannot see much difference between you guys and Americans. If someday you decide to visit Rio de Janeiro, send me a message. You would enjoy it a lot here and nobody will notice where your english come from... Unless you do like most Canadian, and place a flag on your backpack ...
I personally think you made this video because you wanted to read more comments of people saying you are hot. Don't get me wrong you are hot just sayin...
@GrapeSwish87 hahaha exacccctly the same as I was thinking.....her, JulieSuperstar and 90% of the beautiful girls here just want to receive comments to know how hot they are lol :P
another Canadian thing you say that jumps out to an American is you say "Kin-adian". Americans usually enunciate it as "Kun-adian" or "Kan-adian" if you go further south.
And you say accent as "ak-sint", and we say it "ak-sent" with an extra long emphasis on the "sent".
If you say those type of words enough in a conversion I would get suspicion. I would be just waiting for you to drop an "aboot" and AHA...you give yourself away.
you said about and out in a canadian accent, you are fine. you have a canadian accent. i wish i had an accent i think i just float through and its really un even and weird and news reporter-y.
The question is.., do you want to have a canadian accent?.., really no offence but you have the indian refined into north american accent and look. in other words you sound like from India to me, trying to sound CANADIEN ! fun have !
From what I've seen about it, the only technically neutral north american accent is people from Indiana and Ohio. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, unless you're trying to neutralize your accent for a career in journalism.
Uh, yes. From an American in the southern states, yes, you do have a Canadian accent. Your intonation and how you "roll" your syllables is similar to Alanis Morrisette, Natalie Merchant, and my ol' girl from Toronto. Yes, you do prounouce "a-bowt" as "a-boot!" Yeah, I would know you were Canadian (from a fellow Poly Sci major). ;-)
Yes, you do have an accent, but probably less than 1% of the world can tell. You can almost always Tell who is Canadian by the way they pronounce "Canada" which sounds like "Canida" with a distinct inflection and speed. Also you enunciate your vowels on certain words differently. You also have a distinct inflection on some words that have a "t" and "d" in it.
Interesting that you should bring up regional accents, since it's the most effective method an alien invasion force would have to infiltrate the planet and compromise our species. I'll see your "Eh," and raise you a "Yo."

To get to the point, People won't tell you have a Canadian accent. I just have a rare gift.
I see your interest is in politics, your "accent' will not hinder you in either politics or broadcasting. It may even help because it sounds unique.
Take Care

The funny thing is that you are like "I don't say oot and aboot, I say oot and aboot." Not as pronounced as some, I guess.
I believe the neutral broadcasting accent youa referring to is known as North American Standard. In the U.S. we usually called it a midwestern accent.
