Did you get your system running? It's funny seeing this video because I went through it all before. In fact, I created the schematic that you are showing in this video. My motor drivers were not like yours, but I don't know the hookup, but I would say "yes", attach the negative to ground. One more remark, It isn't about the amps if you want your motors to move fast and not slip. If your motors are 1 amp motors at let's say 5V, then you may only need a 1/2 amp power supply at 48 volts.
