I didn't realise this was an actual song, a snippet of this song plays in the awesome TV show "Arrested Development" when a character has a sad moment and I decided to search further and found it was a Charlie Brown song. I found this video and I think this is the best rendition of it that I've found :)

I think, upon re-watching this, that I perhaps AM arpeggiating some of the chords; I believe 'arpeggiation' is some/any form of 'rolling' the notes in a chordal framework - if that's so, I guess any/most of the chords I play here are done that way. You look and judge for yourself. Jon

Yea, I was just wondering because I've been workin' on that song for the past two days out of the "Christmas Real Book." I can play the chords and melody, but I just don't have enough experience to "spice it up" the way you do; so i guess I'm asking you how you went from basic to spiced up. It's cool if you don't feel like explaining it since it's probably more in depth than I think and to explain on YouTube.

Sorry to be of little help - you see, I'm not a reader and had no formal tuition so I guess I'd say it would have to be the 25+ years of performing that honed the 'spicing up' - I wouldn't even know how to 'name' some of the things I do.  There are a million ways to go from note-A to note-B - just keep jiving until you find things you like - it's a great tune to mess with; good luck! Jon
