But what they miss is the other pool of men who get overlooked because they may not be on any end of the spectrum but a mix. Has dreams and aspirations but hasn't become successful yet. Has a job, is working hard and is happy( but there's never enough income for the woman), has a degree but only 1 out of 1000 people in his field land a job every so often (not his fault and he keeps applying). These are things black men like myself have to deal with and its stressful sometimes.
Another factor is media. On tv,movies, posters, music the Black man is supposed to be this epic figure and women try to base their choices off of that. I think there are 4 types black women go for. 1.Mr. Smooth- biz brotha,clean cut , VERY successful, 2. Mr afro centric- smooth, jive talking brotha with " i just read " knowledge/has african name but never been to africa, 3. Thug- Im tough/f the man i dont need a job but im known around the hood (popularity), 4 The Pretty boy
As for the Good guy/bad guy thing. Its just a woman's nature to be more drawn towards the bad guy especially when they are young. From the women i have come across it seems that they don't realize they need something good until their early to mid 30's or after they have had a few kids and are single parents struggling. As a black woman.. I refuse to talk to "thug-like" men period. The black men I have dated "seem" to be "together" until a day or week into. The best thing about the videos is that he seeks to break some of the negative and self-destructive dating patterns that men and women have WITHOUT dwelling in bitterness and anger at past grievances. You may be surprised to know that it begins with self-improvement for men and women!

When we were old he had a job in the steel mill and was self-employed (home repairs). Mom was stay at home mom.Most kids on my street were raised by mom & dad. Manicured while we were made to play momma to the white child or who're to her father. The idea of independence is a way to survive. After integration when we ALL thought we gained acceptance, we learned only on paper. But because it looked like we could we made ourselves comfortable with crumbs. In this comfort.. the man did what he was taught and so did the woman. No other nationalities don't want us. They CAN assimilate. I would be careful with some statements men. Because if you didn't know anger comes from hurt, and this is a viscous cycle that stems from slave mentality and is perfected after integration. For both men and woman the times where your children be taken and sold off. You had to steal your heart to make it. @richlarue2 I suggest you go check out the video lectures by Lennon Honor. He has an EXCELLENT series for women called, "What is an Honorable Man". There is a lecture series for men as well. The best thing about the videos is that he seeks to break some of the negative and self-destructive dating patterns that men and women have WITHOUT dwelling in bitterness and anger at past grievances. You may be surprised to know that it begins with self-improvement for men and women!

Because you holding in resentment and the way you think, won't solve anything. How will that help anyone? But, I applaud your honest dialog and I truly understand where you are coming from. Blackpowercentral you're so on the money I think you've been reading my mind. The "modern" black woman can't seem to recognize the old divide and conquer strategy when it's right in front of them.
