uhhh....great question. the light particle is photons. the Photon is the quantum of the electromagnetic field. quantum being on the quantum or nano scale. so yes! you could use light. and most likely light has much less resistance compared to magnet wire or any wire for that case. light is frictionless. however in this case you would need to find a way to bend the light. you said fiberoptics but the glass or plastic the fiber is made up doesnt let light out except fot the end.
the question is then to see if the glass or plastic the fiber is made of will trap in the magnetic field or not. i will ask alienscientist about this...the author of this video.

Just curious, But this seems to lead to the use of light as the medium to generate energy.
Does light within fiber optics generate a magnetic field and if so could this then be used to make the Rodin coil.
