@MsDiva96 ignore them I been fighting this battle for a day now, they don't wanna admit to the facts which are that etta said that 1. BEYONCE IS A BEAUTIFUL GIRL AND I LOVE HER 2. SHE CAN SING BUT SHE CAN'T SING BETTER THAN ME and 3. SHE WAS JOKING WHEN SHE MADE THOSE COMMENTS IN SEATLLE... Not even Beyonce thinks she sings better than ETTA so I don't know what these people are mad for... and u're right, Beyonce is the reason this song is popular again 40 years later, not ETTA JAMES

@BKHTSO Exactly, it's a fact. The majority of the younger generations would not have heard this song at all without it being resurfaced by Beyonce and Cadillac Records. People are so badly in denial.

@babypink912 ETTTA wasn't pissed at Beyonce she clarified her statements and said she was joking in seattle but that in all honestly she was hurt that they asked Beyonce to sing that song instead of her cause she can sing it better... not that Beyonce can't sing but that she can sing it better.... Even at the movie premiere ETTA said BEyonce can sing but not better than her.. so ther u have it, even the QUEEN herself thinks beyonce can sing so let it go ETTA wasn't mad at Beyonce

Beyonce has a wonderful voice. But she slurred some words and strung out a few.
Etta was crisp and soft at times and showed more I felt honest emotions. I'ts like,
I felt she actually had gone thru this emotional experience and not just cut a record.
I actually I remember feeling this emotion once in my life. I know others here have too.
I'm so sad today.

I love Christina Aguilera, but Beyoncé OWNED this song! I'm not saying that because I prefer Beyoncé, but because she respects the songs she learns. If she had sang it as Christina did, which is with trillions of unnecessary runs, people would have criticized her for over singing. But when Miss Aguilera does it, she is praised. Beyoncé knows when to put runs and not when not to, which Christina Aguilera doesn't. I can't imagine her singing All I Do Was Cry or as soulful as Beyoncé did, sorry...

@savamounange You can't really compare the two. Beyonce had to respect E.James version because it wsa a tribute to her, while Christina did the cover of the song in her concert, wich mean she had the freedom to sing the song the she wanted. If she was doing a tribute to the original singer, she would have sing it more like Beyonce, without all the groal and high note, but she wasnt. I don't understand why you always compare these two version, same song/different context...

She's forcing it to much. Not letting her soul take the rhythm along, which most pop stars can't handle to this day! I'm young and this is coming from a child, which clearly states how over-rated people are by trying to re-do hit songs and try to cover up all of those other people's fame they worked so dearly hard on!

I'm not a Beyonce fan (or a Christina fan, at that) but Beyonce's cover is definitely better than Christina's... Christina has talent but she overdoes everything. It makes me want to repeatedly bang my head into the wall listening to her...Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

i am sentimental about icons like etta , her version of i'd rather go blind is spine chilling but somehow sentiment could not save her on both these tracks ,for me that is.
.Beyonce is better , way better ,by a longshot......or maybe i should go and listen to the originals again.....Still love Etta's spunk though
