In Europe I paid taxes proportional to income and I had all the services, 1 job and 5 weeks holiday. As far as healthcare goes, if you can get the GOP to support a web of locally funded clinics in place of this Public Option federal legislation I would be all for it. But the Repubs had 8 years of control of all three branches and did nothing about the fact that private health insurance cost is up over 100% in the last 10 years.

These are issues that most in the Dems and GOP disagree w/ us on. (Exceptions: Grayson and Ron Paul)

This is not the bill that passed, it is an amendment to the bill. Mel Watt, chairman of the monetary policy subcommittee, gutted the bill, so Paul-Grayson had to amend it to add the audit language back in. BTW, Bank of America Corp is based in Watt's district.
Now we have to get Frank and Pelosi to let the bill be voted on by itself -- but they would rather bury it in some other bill. Disgusting.

You don't have a doctor-patient relationship unless you pay cash. You think you do, but it's the insurance company... a faceless corporate entity that's between you and your doctor. They are the ones who decide if you can go to the doctor and to WHICH doctor, and then they are the ones who determine what the doctor is allowed to do. The bill isn't perfect, but it's a great first step and remember it CAN and will be changed to make it even better.

Sure! How many health care systems did you experiment in your life? I lived in UK, France, Italy and the US with UHC, private and public option. In Europe I paid taxes proportional to income and I had all the services, 1 job and 5 weeks holiday. With the same salary in the US you pay taxes+premiums (138% up) + loans (50K for college, I paid $250) to get ZERO services (unless you co-pay on top of the prmiums). 85% of your salary is gone, you ahve to work 2-3 jobs and get ZERO holidays

As far as healthcare goes, if you can get the GOP to support a web of locally funded clinics in place of this Public Option federal legislation I would be all for it. But the Repubs had 8 years of control of all three branches and did nothing about the fact that private health insurance cost is up over 100% in the last 10 years.
For the moment, the best way to guarantee all children healthcare is through the fed govt. Poor children cannot wait.

Well you are making this vague blanket statement that the federal govt is all bad. Again, you have not shown how the federal armed forces are bad. You have not shown how federal infrastructure is all bad. You have not shown how the federal court system is all bad. Among many others.
Furthermore, when the fed govt absorbs a deficit, during a recession this is a good thing. The govt can lower prices for that service, thereby increasing demand, thereby shortening the recession.

USPS is in the red primarily because of the rise of the internet which essentially offers free communication and billpay services. This is still only one example out of many.
Look at roads and bridges and other infrastructure which makes commerce possible. I would argue that federal highways produce more revenue than anything else.
Limited liability for business owners, as well as contract enforcement, both govt services, make markets possible.

Check the non partison CBO who says that SS is liquid until at least 2040 if absolutely no changes are made.
The FDIC goes up to $250K and anyone who keeps more than that amount in one bank account is being imprudent.
Would you rather not have this protection? No one would put any money in the bank

Wow....that was thoughtful, informed, and most of all, articulate. The only problem is, this is Alan Grayson saying this. This guy is a radical leftist who is clearly out of his mind. Him and Frank are BOTH actively involved in the intentional looting of our country. To say I'm suspicious of him is an understatement.
The fed DOES need to be audited. However, the result will end up being outrage on a national scale and the complete defunding of our federal government in response.

Everyone I speak to is angry at Government nowadays. I had literally 4 conversations with perfect strangers yesterday who are tired of it all to the point where they look hopeless.
I'm angry and sad alos. I can't believe how much corruption there is and how much we're being looted.
I have never in my life wanted a revolution so bad. We seriously need to stop these people from stealing everything we got. I don't see votes, amendments, laws, demonstrations, boycott's, ANYTHING working.

You have to remember that the media capitalizes when they report conflict...ANY conflict, because it's in people's nature to stop and watch a train wreck. If the news reported only good things that are happening, then people would cease to watch. It's why Fox has such high ratings, they constantly push the "fear" and "panic" buttons in people psychologically. There is some corruption, but our government and country is still the best and most free in the world. Don't get discouraged, get active.
