  • Ali has parkinson SYNDROME, not the disease, it mimics Parkinson and is caused by taking many blows to the head, like in boxing and Football.

  • smart doctors

  • add to that the fact that every single professional athlete these days uses steroids and growth hormones, no wonder they become non existent overtime

  • @petelebu Just shut up with stupid statements like that.

  • I knew about this since i was 2??? what the fuck's up with the world? any hit to the head is evetually Messed up!

  • Important news update! Getting smashed in the head for a living can be bad for your health!!

  • I think I need to be checked out by a doctor because I think I might have deficiencies in hormones after watching the vid and reading the causative factors in the description. Ive been knocked out before in a street fight and Ive taken a lot of hard punches before.

  • So Boxing leads to virtual emasculation? Oh the brutal irony.

  • James look like an Olmec head. LMAO

  • wow james toney in a suit and glasses... neat..

  • And Toney still fights? Well he IS definitely brain damaged AND stupid

  • Thumbs up if you think that brain looks like a sad fish @ 1:32......

  • @donputo69 I see the fish!!

  • @donputo69 I can't believe I'm actually going with this

  • @donputo69 ha!

  • So if u box for a long time u turn into a faggot?

  • @Houseofthe7gayboys lol how you put the bottom line got me lol'n.

  • @Piodinata My sensei has fought in many full contact matches when he was younger and told me that when you beat the shit out of people, it feels good but only for a moment. He told me that eventually feelings of guilt begin to creep up on you, sometimes years after a fight. The feelings start to take their toll and depression sets in. Everybody has a conscience.

  • @Haseeb2 im a kickboxer and have had 3 amateur fights. 2 by pretty brutal knock out. But i showed my respect after and till this day i feel no regret. Love how my fights turned out and i never think about feeling guilty. because i didnt beat the shit out of an innocent person it was another competitor. so i dont understand about depression setting in, thats just silly i have pride in all my fights.

  • @cowbearpigcat That is good and am sure you do have pride in your fights. Different people react differently. You may never feel guilty about anything in any of your fights, but some people are more sensitive and they have a lot to come down off of. It is a very real thing with some fighters and former fighters. It's not silly, some people have to deal with these things. Some people turn to drugs and alcohol and try to deny it, others don't and some are none the worst for their experiences.

  • More is starting to come out about MMA fighters as well. In MMA, they may not hit each other as much, but the cumulative effect combined with the fact that the gloves are smaller and the fighters tend to hit each other more directly is cause for concern. But it's their choice.

  • Toney's testosterone levels are low because of his steroids use (side effect).

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong someone doesnt understand it goes down naturally, and verys person to person

  • james toney cant talk for shit. i dont know if its brain damage or just no education

  • This study on top of many that shows a lot of head knocks raise the odds of a disorder. I'll stick with just boxing bags and my robot arms. Heck, I just want to have fun with the boxing workout to stay healthy. Like most the comments though, I sure like watching the skill of boxing.

  • there is no way to make boxing safer

at the end of the day its a sport where your goal is to batter your opponents head and body, its entertaining but not its natural and there will be consequences

  • It's the price you gotta pay for the glory.

  • Pretty ironic that the tests done 2 months before the Ruiz fight Toney had low testosterone and after the Ruiz fight he tested positive for steroids. James Toney has tested positive for steroids twice in his career. in 2004, Toney tested positive for nandrolone and after the Ruiz fight he tested positive for stanzolol and boldenone. There definitely needs to more stringent steroid testing not only in boxing but in all sports because steroids such as HGH, EPO, and blood doping.

  • @oreokid666 how about michael watson? even current fighters like evander holyfield and james toney slur their words. There's a reason the medical community is against boxing. I love the sport, i've been involved for years, my dad was involved for years and so was my grandfather, but changes need to be made to ensure the long term safety of fighters because boxing without protective head gear dramatically increases one's neurological damage

  • @oreokid666 no when a fighter KOs another he doesn't mind, but when he seriously hurts a fighter he's devastated. Go and ask Chris Eubank (or find an interview of his) about what he went through after he nearly killed Michael Watson. Go and look at one of the greatest, Muhammed Ali, watch him tremble and tremor with Parkinsons. It's horrendous to see.

  • @oreokid666 as a person that has been involved in the fight game for many years i have seen the effects it has on fighters. You're a blood thirsty fan that doesn't give a shit about the athletes &u just bay for the blood of others because you're too chicken shit to get in the ring yourself. Whereas i know pro boxers and MMA fighters and i actually care about their well being

  • Toney seemed so different in this interview i dont just meen his speech being clearer.

  • I'm a HUGE fan of boxing and the fan in me loves the way the sport is now, however the truth be told the human being in me doesn't want to see people being hurt and we have to start being honest about the negative effects of boxing on health. Perhaps head gear needs to be introduced at pro level too

  • Could the low testosterone levels just have something to do with some athletes going on and then off of a steroid cycle?

You find these abnormalities in other athletes (non-combat based) as well. I remember reading somewhere that male distance runners tend to have abnormally low levels of testosterone.

  • It seems like James Toney has suffered a lot of brain damage since this video has been made. In his recent interviews, he needs subtitles...

  • @12n12n12 not only that, he seems delusional in recent videos

  • james toney has never even been knocked out so think about the boxers that have been koed multiple times, even like the two times he went down they were more off balance knock downs

  • @punktillidie27

You take more damage from taking punches rather than being KO'd from 1. There are many boxers that have never been KO'd but show signs of brain damage/slurring words etc. It's all those years of just taking shot after shot to the head, most boxers get hit with hundreds of punches per fight, these punches would KO the average man with absolute ease, they punch very hard.

  • ..punch to the head, the nerve completely dies and is not able to build up sodium ions to release acetycholine, to effect the synapses, to trigger dopamine receptors. Parkinsons is genetic, brain damage is experimental. get it.

  • Anyone who says muhammed ali got parkinsons from getting punched in the head is a fucking moron. Parkinson's is the inability to fire off dopamine neurotransmitters at the right synapses, when needed. It is genetic, and is a gradual degeneration of either the soma or the axon terminal in brain neurons. That has nothing to do with how many punches you take to the head, or brain damage. Brain damage affects the same parts of the neurons as parkinsons, except when a neuron is damaged from a..

  • @06livefast Ali has Parkinsons' Syndrome, not necessarily Parkinsons Disease.

  • toneys fuckeddd

  • James Toney was punch drunk before he started boxing, still a great boxer too!

  • This mufu took steroids which is why his shit is low.

  • I got a 300 pound gorilla, wait team of gorillas... running at me as fast as they can with the specific goal of bringing me to the ground. No shit football collisions hurt more than 1 punch, but how many punches land in 1 fight?

  • 4:01 Bullshit!

  • It sounds like someone is smothering a pillow on James Toney's face when he talks.

  • I am not sure if I should believe this video... It just seems like excuses to take steroids legally.

  • @SteveSmith26 That's what it is......is just a way to get steroids and don't get disqualified.

  • @mttm06 not really, these are the breakthroughs scientists need to make.when you become older your body naturally stops producing as much testosterone and HGH.witch results in weakining of bones, muscle, connective tissue/ligaments and overall takes you longer to recover from an injury.the steroids for these problems would be administered by a doctor at low levels, people who are taking steroids in sports or for body building are taking extremly dangerous amounts.when your 40 youll want this.

  • @SteveSmith26 whats not to believe about this?you get a concussion it damages a vital gland in your brain and now its not working correctly.how is this hard to believe?

  • @farenht456 It's hard to believe because steroid users are liars and cheaters, and will create any story to justify their steroid use. The next thing we know, they will use this video as a justification to get steroids legally and thus gain a performance advantage.

  • @SteveSmith26 these arn't steroid users, these are doctors.big difference..a little HGH and testosterone will just make them healthier, this would be administered by doctors who are constantly taking tests to insure their hormone levels are at "normal" levels.body builders who are taking steroids have hgh hormones that are through the roof.this is the future.when your an old man your going to want this for yourself

  • Toney doesn't have subtitles, now how the hell should i watch this?

  • James Toney must have brain damage he went to fight in the UFC with zero grappling knowledge lol

  • Damn u can understand james toney during this interview, nowadays he speaks his own language.

  • James Toney is the toughest of tough guys. God bless him.

  • @eltubster14 Hes a real fighter, we need more regulation and protection for boxers

  • @eltubster14 James Toney is stupid, and can't fight for shit. He's a great boxer, but a middle school wrestler would take him down and choke him out.

  • @TheTumbleweedfarm No shit, you fucking idiot, thats why he boxes and dominated the sport for 15 years

  • @TheTumbleweedfarm ur a fag and stupid

  • @eltubster14 yep...the black stallone

  • @eltubster,

Damn right, not afraid of anyone and tough as nails. I want him to walk away safe.

  • @eltubster14 Sorry to say it, but he's a casualty.

  • The difference between boxing and football is boxer get hit way more.

they land 150 to 500 punches a fight.

  • i love how they couldn't find a good clip of toney taking a hard punch to use. man was nigh impossible to hit.

  • Yea this spook James Toney is brained injured alright , he actually thinks he is the best fighter ever !

  • THATS WHY TONEY ACTS LIKE A BITCH,HE DOESNT PRODUCE TESTOSTERONE. SIKE! JAMES IS ONE OF THE BEST BOXERS AND DEFENSIVE FIGHTERS OF ALL TIME.

  • sounds to me like they're just trying to find a way to ban all contact sports, nothing new. its fucking sickening. one day they will try to ban running more than a certain distance or at more than a certain speed.

  • @UKAudienceofone it is bad on your joints

  • @Caughtya111 yh, thats likely to be the reason...

  • I feel bad for James. I hope he gets out of boxing really, really soon.

    I hope he gets better.

  • why do black sometimes have potato heads like Toney?

  • @jpdt007 prick

  • @dannybrigg Oh yeah you are right...PRICK heads not potato heads.

  • @jpdt007 There always gotta be one atleast one fucker who always gotta bring the race thing up.

  • @cray32 Races exist...im not discriminating anyone. But the fact is races DO exist, each with certain physical peculiarities. So if you think my comment was "racist" (as in implying that blacks are inferior to anyone else because they have darker skin or potatoheads) then you are WRONG and the one being pre-judgmental is you. There is no hint of me assuming blacks or any other race is superior or inferior.

  • @jpdt007 Mate, you are just a waste of space on Earth, if you die right now the world wouldn't miss ya. Not even worth discussion with people like you.

  • @cray32 Come on...you know you love me. Don't be so shy...your mommy is missing me already...son.

  • He is slurring since years but his mind is clear as hell. Toney is one of the best defensive fighters of the last decade, he didnt toook so many clean blows to his head, i dont think he has serious brain damage. The thing with his hormons is a consequence of his steroid use.

  • It doesn't look like many people understand steroids, they do not make you stronger. They can enable you to train harder and longer but will not give you mre utilisable muscle, neither will they give you better cardio. Now as far as I understand it, natural power and good cardio are the underpinning aspects of a fighter's success so steroids will not necessarily be as bigger advantage as some would think.

  • lights out bitch, ufc threw him in a meat grinder but his philly shell and overall style is still the best ive gotten the privledge to enjoy. last of the extinct breed.

  • i really hope they find a way to make boxing and mma safer. because i love the sports and do not watch it for the violence but for the will to win and strategy of the fighters.

  • @funlovenboy not me, I wish they fought to the death

  • @funlovenboy they've actually made MMA more dangerous by introducing rounds, standing fighters up, and maknig them wear gloves, which protect the hand somewhat from the heavy impact of hitting a skull (so they are more likely to hit hard blows to the head). I enjioy watching the sports too, but unfortunately there is no way to make getting hit in the head safe.

  • @funlovenboy actually mma is one of the safer sports you can do. its safer than boxing much safer than football and compared to cheerleading its like playing ping pong. look at all the injury statistics for those sports mma is one of the safest sport you can possibly do

  • @funlovenboy brain injury in boxing far worse then mma

  • @funlovenboy

Yer. I'm sure you will enjoy watching 2 fighters with pillows attached to her heads and a helmet on.

Get real, its in our nature to enjoy watching warriors fight. Look at history, Gladiators for example

  • @funlovenboy dude, please be quiet. there is no way to make the sports safer. it is what it is. and either way it is probably safer then football and race car driving or rugby and shit like that. most of the boxers that have bad brain damage are the guys who kept fighting for long periods of time well after it was obvious they should retire. the difference is they either ignored the doctors and trainers advice or they were just too greedy and didnt think about the consequences

  • @funlovenboy Only one in MMA that I can think of is Chuck Liddell.

  • @funlovenboy mma is far safer then boxing

  • @bazellheather word, because we arent smashed in the face so many times and knocked out and then the ref stands us up again. and we box again. in mma the ref just stops it when we even look in trouble, way safer than boxing i agree

  • james toney

  • @PerfectWorldGold

ALl hormones are affected in the following order:

Testosterone - Growth Hormone - Thyroid - Cortisol.

  • yeah but you gotta have balls to play a violent sport...

  • @jezelljr

Not totally True there are more and more women playing Violent Sports like Marriage to a mentally unstable person!

  • @mlgordonmd I don't think that's really considered a sport. maybe you should campaign to have it included in the london 2012 olympics?

  • @mlgordonmd Washing dishes isn't a sport.

  • @jezelljr balls none the less

  • @coacheeese

    UNACCEPTABLE. BAD BOY!!

  • low testosterone is also a result of going off steriods while someone has used steriods.

  • @jtrubilla

Very few active boxer do because of the great screening programs to keep them all honest. But, if everyone used something then it would be alright?

  • @mlgordonmd the screening programs in boxing are terrible. About 70% of top level boxers are users, but you'll never know because tehre isn't "random" screening.. thus it's easy to beat the system when you know how and when.

  • @mlgordonmd great screening my ass, they're all on roids, even Holyfield

  • @jtrubilla

    Toney did he tested positive.

  • You are correct but it is more than just looking at one hormone. It is a matter of looking across the board of hormones.

  • @buck25ennis YUP!!!Completely true.

  • @buck25ennis

True, but again that would be an isolated issue.

  • @buck25ennis that is 100% true... it doesn't always happen but a lot of young people who used steroids and didn't use an estrogen blocker and come off slowly to allow their natural testosterone to replenish now suffer from testosterone deficiencies...

  • @buck25ennis Not really. It's a result of using steroids for too long which shuts off natural production of testosterone.

  • The low testosterone of boxers could be due to the excessive training, dieting and stress of fighting. Endurance training is also known ot lower levels.

  • yeh i was thinking the same thing, cause many non combat athletes have low T levels too.

  • @tribulu It would be hard to separate out the training from the impact while training.
