I've watched this movie a few times and i never saw anything that implied that they had a romantic relationship... I really just think that it's two girls having fun and being there for each other!!
i didn't find anything weird about the girl relationship, i have a friend and were like the same way. To me i think that beth really just wants to help and try to protect Jody and i believe they became so close in such a short amount of time because they really understood each other no one really know or understood beth until Jody came along.
A lot of people are saying Jody and Beth were very attractive to one another. But you are all forgetting the main point! Jody was symbolized as the bad girl when all she was proving was that she loved her mother and protected herself from Ray. And she needed a "friend" who believed she was a good person. And don't forget the story was in the 80's. Kids those days didn't watch T.V. they would rather play outside and look for adventure! Hope this helps anyone!!
Last time I watched this I was about 12 and I just thought it was another adventure kid's film. All I'll say is that they seem very attached to each other in a very short space of time. Attached in a way that I never was with my friends.
yeah I watched this years ago with my mother, and I enjoyed it very very much. But I found it and watched it with my mom again and there was an awkward silence between us when it finished, its like when your a kid you dont really see that stuff, but when your a little older you just see the tiniest things.
