yeah he began his career with the Stars got traded to the Habs then ended his career with the Stars again.. 357 goals 679 assists 1,036 pts... Lapierre is lucky if he gets 100 career points... he's at 84 career points at this moment....lol!!!!!
The Stars record in Boston fell to 0-28-7, true. Then when the playoffs rolled around and the Stars won both games at the Garden and closed the Bruins out at home in the 3rd game.
The NHL died for me when Norm Green moved the North Stars to Dallas because he wasn't man enough to face a sexual harassment suit. The Met Center was the greatest place in the world to watch a hockey game; now it's just a distant memory, too. I just can't get into the Wild (and seriously, what the hell is a Wild, anyway?).
@Paul5678 yea but now the realignment is gonna put the wild in the same division as the blackhawks, the red wings, and the stars. gonna start some rivalries :)
I was at a meeting of some kind that night and got home about 8:00 PM(CT) and the 1st period was just ending. So that was a sign of what was to come the rest of the night.
The Bruins dominated the Stars in fights and victories until this game. The Stars were humiliated a few years earlier during the infamous incident where John Wensink challenged the entire Star's bench and had no takers. What hurt the Bruins was that by 1981, Al Secord, Wensink, and Stan Jonathan were no longer on the team. The Stars really took off in the 1980's after this game.

This whole situation was planned as Glenn Sonmor told his team to take no **** from the Bruins. And they didn't. They lost this game but it set up winning the 1st 2 games in the 1st round playoff series that spring. And since that was a best of 5 series the Stars were able to win the 1 game at home to sweep.
u never go after Bobby Smith w/Jack carlson around hartsie was a baby bull he could throw when he had to Maxi was tuffest of the all, Younghans, Nice nose
I was supposed to start a new job that day...asked the boss if it could wait because I figured this would happen...he obliged...LOL...Way to go North Stars...
When I was kid at the met or watching on tv, My favorite thing to say: "Steve Christoph is getin' pretty pissed off" Big fun when you are ten years old.
@puck30 keep in mind back in 1981 as opposed to 2010, hockey was a different game back than.......more fighting back than and the players are more skilled now per skating skills.............I also miss the Stars but the Wild as you probably know play in a different time than the Stars did when they were out in Bloomington playing at the met. sports center.
radsman123 obviously your from minn.the bruins were not cheap the bruins have guts and don't take crap from other teams.the stars forgot one basic thing when playing in boston.bring your A game or don't bother showing up.in boston you have to fight the bruins ,the crowd, everybody so BRING YOUR A GAME!!
the boston bruins were very cheap and all they did was fought anyone and everyone they can get their hands on. thank god the stars beat the shit out of them in the playoffs
The North Stars listed in the card mostly were scorers, not fighters. The Bruin enforcers attacked the Stars' top stars right away. The Stars had never won in Boston, but after this, they took apart the Bruins in the playoffs and did well the rest of their time in Minnesota. The story on the Stars' side is they knew the Bruins were going to pull this crap again, and they were going to give back as big a pounding as they could. And they gave good.
@webcelt: I agree totally with what you described. This night is legendary in Minnesota North Stars history - after going years and years without a win in Boston, the North Stars fought hard made a statement, which set the stage for the playoffs - and the North Stars eliminated Boston that year, in Boston. It was a dream come true for North Star fans (and there weren't many of those moments in North Star history).
@bigdenverguy Not only did they eliminate them, they swept them 3 straight. It was a great game to watch. This game is what launched them to the Stanley Cup finals where they lost to the Islanders.
@landrykkb Correct. The Stars swept the Bruins later on that season in the playoffs! Bruins then GM Harry Sinden basically labeled Minnesota a "soft" team basically implying they were "pussies"! Pissed off the Stars so much that they retaliated here by brawling at the urging as well from their coach Glen Sonmor!
@bigdenverguy No,because it took another 10 years for them to get back to the Stanley Cup Finals, with a team that didn't really look all that threatening on paper.Who knows what might have been the following year against Detroit if that controversial Sergei Federov OT goal didn't count and the Stars went on to win that series?
@pyro4561 jack carlson and his 2 brothers where the inspiration for the hansons jeff carlson played jeff hanson steve carlson played steve hanson david hanson played jack hanson
The poster of the video failed to mention the N'Stars won that game 5-4. Boston's Game 1 tactics backfired terribly and they were thoroughly humiliated by Minnesota 3 games to none. At that point Boston was only 10yrs into their 38yrs of Stanley Cup futility.....
I took my little brother to this game. If i remember it was a school nite and we didn't get home till after midnite,it was awesome. One of the northstars tried a little stickwork on O'Reilly in the 3rd period. Terry gave him a wicked two hander with his stick rite across the guys chest. We were in the balcony rite over them.I'll never forget how LOUD that stick was.I can't remember the guys name but he got what he asked for!! Go Bruins!!
I remember this game, tho I didn't see it. There was a lot of talk going into it, coz the Stars were an up and coming team at the time and were going to have to show they could stand up to the bad B's. After this, they went on to have a few good years and make the cup finals vs. the Islanders. Shows what a good fight can do for a team.
That was an exciting night. I watched the game on TV from Minnesota. I was there. I turned around to take my coat off after the national anthem and push it back in my chair and they started fighting before I sat down to watch. I remember the equipment guy sorting out the gloves and flinging the North Stars' stuff down the ice. Didn't get home till midnight.
Nice to see Milbury get tuned..he was a peace of shit then and still is now.

I'm surprised the game even continued after the big brawl.
But then again, had the game been terminated, there could have been riots in the streets of Boston and across New England.

There are more fans of The North Stars on web sites than The islanders, Kings and 7 other existing teams.
