  • 1:45 Zombie is not the lyrics. its "time we."

Each time we walk around constitutes another obstacle.

  • Fuckin FUCK. This guy was a GENIUS. The ability to express his feelings that well...how is this ANYTHING less valid than history or math or science? This kind of beauty is a fucking necessity. So fucking based.

  • I stand alone .. burned every bridge over the troubled water

  • Eyedea had many psychological wounds from his childhood, most likely caused by his family more than anything else. I think it's interesting he was found dead at his mothers house. This is a great opportunity for all of us to dig into our history, our childhood, our family.

  • @OpineTime indeed.

  • i fucking miss this bastard :'(

  • I used to listen to Eyedea religiously. Most people who happened to be in my car shrugged him off. I thought I was all alone with my Eyedea love. Glad to see there are others who appreciate what an amazing artist he was.

  • @Ibprius I think the problem is that most people that listen to rap dont listen closely to the lyrics or understand the art of rapping to appreciate it enough

  • just listen...

  • I feel like Eyedea is the John Frusciante of rap music.

  • @loganmwright904 i definitely just listened to Dying by John Frusciante just before this :]

both beautiful creators, minds and personalities!

  • Ive been like this since I was 12. Im about to turn 19. I know how it feels.

  • Amazing.

  • this song is how i feel. long live the greatest rapper to step on this planet.

  • this is truely art

  • getting a 3/4 sleeve designed based on "stare into my eyes and see the hell that burns inside my mind and i no longer have an ego i can hide behind"

when it's done i'll post the link to the ink

  • I think "acid" is masochistic.

  • stop talking to me.

    lol

  • this is me right now. i really don't know if i can handle continuing to live if life doesn't get better after high school.

  • @thecareerballoons It does buddy, at least where I'm at.

  • @thecareerballoons Dude real talk

  • @thecareerballoons that was me 5 years ago when my parents got divorced, i found out about all of the lies my father had told me and my mother. my girlfriend broke up with me and everything felt so shitty. the only person i could relate to was eyedea, and even that wasn't much. i just kept listening. then life gave me more than i ever thought it would. it gets better.

  • Sample is from somewhere on Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" record.

  • This is a god dam masterpeace, I can't even begin to explain the genius of this song. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this. What a great fucking man... I would give anything to smoke with eyedea and abilitys

  • @DragonCawk i seriously think that about 6 times a day

  • With Eyedea and Abilities I know I'm not alone...

  • this song is so fucking good i love it!

  • Makes too much sense, in a world without empathy, this just hits the nail...

  • R.I.P Eyedea!

  • Fuck.. whyd you go.. I need a real artist in my life.

  • Does anyone know if Abilities produced this or if someone else did?

  • @averycorruptmind Eyedea produced this himself man! I was trying to find out for years and I finally found a vinyl copy and checked the liner notes "Produced by Eyedea"!!!

  • fuck the nwo! i know they fucked with your sleeping pills last year they make targets out of those they are afraid of, and those they just plain don't need anymore.. you're an inspiration!! you brought wisdom and intellect to hip-hop, were glorified for your dedication to acute skill, and you STILL had the humility + discipline to turn down evil intent when you could see that shit.. RIP mikey

  • @thasupremeoverlord that's a little paranoid sounding to me, there were/are much bigger threats to the powers that be than eyedea, even within the realm of hip hop.

  • What world is it we live in when a man with eyedeas who fights his fears incites arrears in this heat that sears each and every one of us leaving such an omnibus of thoughts on life that we can trust for state as musings not as 'musts' is forgotten by the populace half of them never knowing us our love of all his musics lust allowing dust to turn to dust when such a dustless bust is left to solace our disgust cant help but see this universe as villainous What world is it we live in.
  • @Prossmeister

this worked a hell of a lot better when split into lines :p

    breaks are at in/fears/sear/omnibus/trust/musts/populace/us/lust/dust2/disgust/villainous.

split it if you'd care to read it. its to the beat of the song, it works in my head, its about how fucked it is that this mind is gone, and so few people ever knew it was here.

  • this beat is sick

  • e&a day

  • 1 year. R.I.P.

  • i can't get over this. i love eyedea.

  • I feel like Luke sykwalker, and Eyedea is my passed on JediMaster. Lives forever through the force son

  • Eyedea, you are my power. May you never be forgotten, Rest in Peace.

  • <3

  • why would 4 people dislike this?!?!? its one of the deepest songs ive ever heard...these 4 people must be deaf or just plain stupid

  • @al458 Everybody doesn't have to like what you like. If they don't like Eyedea, so be it. They either ain't feeling it or he isn't for them.

  • @keyonte0 but if you think about it if they have some competence they could make the slightest attempt to listen to lyrics and if they actually think about them they'll just sit their mind blown

  • @joshytheskater Most people are too shallow and stupid to understand. They live their lives based on image and surface interpretations rather than looking deeply into anything, so they could never relate to someone like Eyedea.

  • my favorite song by him.

  • Lyrics are WAY off....

  • Eyedea is a genius...it's a shame he died before he ever got the respect he truly deserved.

  • @brianh190 eyedea always said he would be more famous after he dies

  • Eyedea was the best thing to ever happen in the history of rap/ hip-hop. R. EYE. P

  • What I wouldn't have given to sit and discuss life with this man.

  • @JOZZYmusic right? I don't feel like the words "I don't know" could come out of his mouth.

  • @JOZZYmusic

I think he knew too much about it--he refused to live in ignorance, but he didn't know how to live otherwise or at least didn't see the purpose in trying to affect change. One thing was for sure, that man was holding on to the the thinnest shred of hope until he died.

  • 2:50

    "filling my organs"

  • Speaks to me.

  • so glad i found this

  • how can i buy/download this

  • @thedudem45 itunes.com

  • @thedudem45 btjunkie.org

  • Damn, Eyedea was on a whole 'nother level... fuck..

I mean Wayne is too but I think he used a shovel...

  • So delicate, so closed yet so open. R.I.P. Eyedea, the life of a genius is fleeting on a planet that cannot adapt to that.

  • This is my first time ever hearing eyedea. I am in awe. Absolute, mind-consuming awe.

  • @TheLizardQueenMotion you picked a good song for your first exposure ;)

  • Hear eyedea last song he ever sung called SKINNY

  • Easily one of my favorite songs ever. This is more than just hip-hop.

  • beautiful!!!!!

  • i was going through a rough patch ,i thought it was over but looks like im wrong, so im it appears i will need your music now more then ever eydea.

i hate the fact you're gone, but love that you were here and i can listen to you

  • @RyanGiggsOBE I feel the same way.

  • amazing.

  • favorite song of ALL time.

  • @Cboheezy

It can't be. There has to be a tie between all of his songs

  • @ithereanyname

Some of his songs show off his rapping prowess, and his flow. Others get into his head and tear and bite at your heart and mind because they're so deep in meaning.

  • this is amazing, which year is it from?

  • For a while i thought i was the only one that thought this way and didnt know how to explain myself.. i thought i was a fucked up person for thinking in my head "people say I've changed, and it's harder to relate to me

GOOD! I never liked you our friendship was make believe..."(not in those words but similar.) To hear someone else say it makes me feel sane..

~~>RIP EYEDEA<~~ Hey it just hit me.. Eyedea aint gone.. just hit reply :)

  • @jimmynemis18 The part that got me was "They taught me how to know everything except my soul, which is everything i need to grow, everything that keeps me whole, EVERYTHING THAT EVER MEANT ANYTHING TO EYEDEA"

Explains the story of my life.

  • fuck...i cant find any songs like this d:

  • cranked this one before my Calc final exam....dang, nostalgia.

  • One of the best songs ever.

  • which album?

  • @MethodMc We Came From Beyond

  • which album?

  • anyone else get goosebumps when they listen to eyedea.

  • this song seamlessly binds its message to those of us who feel and experience exactly what he's saying

  • @bewbs249 i thought i was the only 1

  • RIP.. hope you found god

  • SO MANY QUOTABLES!

    RIP Mikey

  • Timeless & disgustingly awesome.

    R.I.P. Michael "Eyedea" Larson

  • @windmonkey95 Damn thats sick as fuck. Especially if you made it up.

  • Amazing song! i love ittt.

  • By happenstance, I discovered this music yesterday afternoon while a friend of a friend of a friend was playing his iPhone out loud. All I can say is that art, reality, and cognition can't hold a candle to the cyclone of this man's mind. Rest in Peace, Eyedea.

Although, can someone please tell me when and how he died?

  • @MrSpitz99

hey, glad to hear you got into real hiphop,

    Eyedea died Oct. 16 2010,

from what i understand it was a complication with prescription medication

  • @MrSpitz99 Wikipedia

  • Been listening to this for like 30 times in a row. Goes way deeper than just your eardrum. R.I.P. Eyedea.

  • Eyedea, my idol - now you're at least not bound by any chains anymore. R.I.P.

  • FUUUUUCK the shit on the radio, for real.

  • As I read these I can only feel comfort. I was truly not alone. Eyedeas lyrics haven given me hope. Its sad that I only got into his music over the last year and barely found out he passed away. Thank you Eyedea, for keeping me company

  • i cant find this anywhere!

  • this blowss me awayy every time , this kid was a genius, his rhymes will live on forever.. RIP

  • a dude once told me "eyedea didnt die...dudes just moved on to the next level" his mind was too great for us

  • Not ashamed to admit that this makes me cry every time.

  • @CannedSausages

    you too?

  • @CannedSausages Doesn't make me cry but I have a couple times overall because of him dying.

  • R.I.P Eyedea; this song is proof that underground rappers are way to damn underated, this man had a unbielive mind filled with so much skill. I wish that i could have met this man to express my opinions, and get lyrical insight from him his music is and always will be incredible

  • @MrCujo956 thats why he was underground man..cause all those people that like all that mainstream shit dont deserve to hear him

  • which album this from?

  • @tigran914 first born i think. not sure

  • @tigran914 "We came from beyond"

  • Most amazing MC I've ever heard, and mixing it with the amazing music of Mike Oldfield stupify's me...this is music, the mainstream can blow it out their ass. This stuff should be on the radio daily.

  • Read it a few secs ago....

Another hero died...gr8 MC and Lyricist we've lost....2010 seems to be the year to go?!?

    REST IN PEACE

  • rip eyedea, the last thing the underground needed was your passing

  • I would take the deal. You know why? I want to support my family. I don't care if money can proclaim people rich, because I don't care about being rich. I want to help others, because that will make me happy.

  • After almost two years of absence fom school and many feelings that felt uncontrollable at the time i can safely say eyedea steered me through some very dark periods i'm thankful for his footprints in the sands of my conscience and hope he's resting peacefully up above...highly influential! R.I.P.

  • @ldbairner1 glad you got through it man.. this world is fucked

  • RIP dude.....he has that acquired taste style, but when you have that taste its like a miracle. we lost an amazing MC... rest easy.

  • Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an eyedea, Mr, industry, and eyedas are bulletproof.

  • Rest in peace.

This is my favorite Eyedea song of all time. "Dedicated to an amazing mind." Can't say it better.

I was first introduced to Eyedea when I was around 12. That's more than 10 years ago. I still listen to his songs. I literally just found out about his death. I am speechless.

I will always remember the feelings this song, and others, invoked when I listened to it.

    Thank you, Eyedea.

  • "So fuck education for a decade and 3 years,

    Of headaches from my peers,

Cause now I realize I could have learned more on my own,

They taught me how to know everything except my soul,

Which is everything I need to grow,

    Everything that keeps me whole,

Everything that ever meant anything to Eyedea!"

    :')

  • Thanks for uploading a better quality version

  • I think the original version of the video was better. the song and lyrics are still amazing, of course.

  • Great Vid woodrow.

  • I started listening to Eyedea when I was just turned sixteen and a ball of hormones and hate and confusion. His music, his lyricism and his pure and raw intellect channeled a feeling in me that I couldn't put into words.

My life is not a mirror of his, but that gut feeling of disappointed, anger, violence and sadness reverberated with me in a way that made me calm.

I'm 21, and I have lost a friend who saw me through hard times.

    I think we all have.

    Rest in peace, Micheal.

  • @damienamarty

thats real right there, much respect

  • If anyone dislikes this they have no soul. Eyedea gave everything he had into his music and now we can all benefit from his gift that he has left us all with. RIP to a legend. These lyrics are flawless.

  • Respect.

  • R. EYE. P

  • Still in shock... Love revisiting all his music and realizing how amazing and influential Eyedea was to us. Much Love

  • @DroptheRockMovement Word, i've been doing that and I become sadder everyday lol, there was just so much in each of his songs it's unbelievable. Such an insightful artist I won't forget him.

  • @DroptheRockMovement

Was? Eyedea's don't die and surely they don't stop influencing me or others.

  • @LeprosyVirus -- What I mean is. How influential he was during the years in which I decided to dedicate myself to writing. Him, along other independent rappers, helped me believe me & my crew could really excel in this game. Of course he still influences my artistic growth. But he was pivotal in inspiring me and my crew to even give it a try... I try to play Eyedea every morning searching for motivation and inspiration. I agree, Eyedeas are immortal.

  • RIP.

  • These lyrics are so fuckin beautiful. RIP

  • terrible loss for hip hop

  • i cant believe he fuckin passed away... waaaaay too early

  • Thank you for fixing this. RIP

  • RIP Eyedea

No one will ever top you

  • RIP
