In the movie they're portrayed as the hero-like successful cops, and obviously with an actor like the rock the director had to have them something outrageously cool to prove their hero status, only the result of them hitting the ground is extremely unexpected and provided for some very decent comedy....and later in come the other guys (will farell and mark wahlberg)
