Also religion in masonic lodges vary depending on the location. For example at my lodge we receive the King James Bible upon initiation. Over in the next town its the holy bible. The only thing required to be a Freemason is that you believe in God because Masons believe that you cannot be moral and upstanding without believing in God. As far as religion goes. In my martial arts practice I pray to Buddha out of respect to my master. We meditate for spiritual enlightenment and build confidence and string morals. We also perform rituals when attaining a new level.

We teach that God exists, that he intervenes in our lives via blessings, that we should begin all great endeavors with a prayer, that Heaven is open to all good men, and that studying and participating in Masonry can bring us enlightenment and a closer relationship to God. Also religion in masonic lodges vary depending on the location. For example at my lodge we receive the King James Bible upon initiation. Over in the next town its the holy bible. The only thing required to be a Freemason is that you believe in God because Masons believe that you cannot be moral and upstanding without believing in God. Which is why an Athiest, Luciferian, Satanists, etc could never become a mason.
Another example In Ireland many lodges are either Protestant or catholic.

As far as religion goes. In my martial arts practice I pray to Buddha out of respect to my master. We meditate for spiritual enlightenment and build confidence and string morals. We also perform rituals when attaining a new level.
So generally speaking my martial art is also a religion according to you.

I agree with you on Religion wholeheartedly but as far as Masonry goes the Light we are seeking has nothing to do with religion. It is actually forbidden to discuss religion in the lodge due to varying beliefs that different members have. Scottish Rite accepts all faiths and York Rite is Christian based.
So by definition it is not a religion as we do not preach what one should believe in

I am not anti-Jewish. I've had many Jewish close friends. It's the thinking, especially the ill-natured group thinking that I oppose. Some of this ill-thinking goes like this (Jews know it's true) if a Jew wants to injure a non-Jew friend or acquaintance they'll invite the non-Jew only to funerals not to weddings. The intention is to harm one's spirit & gross someone out.
I'm not racist nor religious so I'm not preoccupied at funerals. I attend them in love and for one last personal moment.

To be a Freemason one must believe in a creator of the universe and that is all. All of the religious references are optional; you are reading it wrong PROTESTANTSEP. IT might have religion in it --if you wish--it does not need to. Ben Franklin was a deist as many founding fathers and he was a mason. He respected all religions but couldnot believe in any of them. This book proves nothing. I have a library of them. I am well read and know that a "religious institution" doesnot make it a religion in and of itself. That would be impossible because the members are of many religions. They cannot break a rule of their religon by being a member; that is why many Catholics refused to join because the Pope way back said it was a wrong for a Catholic to be a member. After study that ruld has been abandoned. Now Catholics can join the benign fraternity.

To claim that Christ was 33 when he was murdered, and to somehow use that to make Freemasonry look righteous is a real stretch....but since you like associations, try this one that is even more interesting.....it was 33% of the angels that were cast out of heave for their rebellion against the Crown....that is a more acurate depiction of Freemasonry and the significance of the number 33.

It is a religious institution, not a religion. You can be of any faith or religion and still be a brother mason. This video proves nothing more than masons are religious and that in being a mason, you have to believe in a god.
It does not prove that the craft of freemasonry is or ever has been a stand alone religion.

Why are you only quoting that one reference, and not the others found in this Masonic Encyclopedia that clearly states Freemasonry is a religion and should be defended as such? What about the public record of the Freemasons in L.A. declaring that Freemasonry is indeed a religion? Believe what you want, most churches in my opinion are religioius institutions, simply places where religious things go on, however they are also religious institutions used by the Federal Government as we have seen.

For Middle Easterns, Islam is their practice; In India its Hinduism; parts of Asia, Buddism. In all of these nations masonry exist, but their dogma is written to fit their beliefs and experiences.
