  • GREAT! One question hoping to save the DVD money, but when you first start with two poles, how do you reward without enforcing a right shoulder? Like at 0:25, isn't that right shoulder? xxx

  • @Ella4Blu I'm not quite sure what you're asking me. Can you elaborate on what your "right shoulder" concern is and I'll see if I can help? At this stage of the training, you want the dog to go through the first two poles, and then you reward down the "reinforcement line." And then you maintain tha reinforcement line throughout the 2x2 training. If you don't have the DVD, you should get it. It's excellent and goes through the process in great detail. I can't recommend it more highly.

  • Skeeter is such a cutie, I love how she listens so intently when you are talking to the camera about the weave poles =o) Great Job with the weaves!! 5* ~Heather and Jesse~

  • This is a very good video as it shows how one ends up finding what works best..it does speak for itself.Go Skeeter

  • I meant to rate 5 stars, oops!

great job with her! I want to try channel and/or WAM weaves with my dog. What method did you use before 2X2? Maybe I'll have to save money for 2X2 DVD.

One more question: do you have to buy 2X2 weave poles too?

  • I taught Forrest on channels. He's a pretty good weaver now, but it took some time to get him here. I also don't think his entries are as strong as they could be. I'm thinking about re-training him on 2x2s.

For 2x2's you need poles that are in sections of 2. You could buy them, you could even make them out of pvc if you're creative. I borrowed the set I'm using from a friend. But then I borrowed the channels I used from a friend as well.

  • Skeeter is looking fantastic. I am so missing agility its now been one whole year since I have not been able to compete at agility because of my knee. Keep up your great training.

  • I hope you can get back to agility. It is so much fun.

  • Dang, that's nice!

Did you use an NRM at any point, or did you just ignore the errors?

  • Occasionally I unconsciously used a quiet "oops" when Skeeter missed an entry or missed the 2nd set of poles, but not very often. I didn't use it as a matter of practice.

Pretty sweet weave entries at the end, eh???

  • Sa-WEET! :-)

  • She's looking good Anne! I love the 2 x 2 method.

  • Thanks Julie. I've never trained the 2x2 method before. Forrest learned on offsets. I think this method is pretty amazing. I keep watching her entries in the last segment. It took Forrest a good long time to get him to do entries like that! He certainly wasn't doing it when he was Skeeter's age. Of course, it's hard to hit a weave entry when you're running away full speed !!!

  • I can't wait to get another small dog. I would train he or she entirely differently than I trained Velo. It will be awhile though.

  • You should get a Jack Russell !!! Your BCs would love you for it!

  • Hmmm. Yeah maybe :-) I do love the breed though.

  • wow she is really good! i am training my new competition dog lol i don't own him but you should check him out:) he is the border collie he is on my latest video ya but i am debating how i want to train him with the weaves???

  • Try the 2x2 method. I really like it. Maybe you could get the DVD for Christmas! Good luck with your new project.

  • Great job!! This is my summer project with the dogs!

  • It's a great summer project. I'm envious as we're losing so much of our evening light... it's nearly dark by 7:00 pm. I hate losing that light in the evenings. Have fun in the summer, and good luck with this weave method. I'm really happy with it.

  • this is awesome great job skeeter :)

  • Very good! And Skeeter is adorable!

  • nice video nice to see the progress and set backs

  • Thanks! I had over 1.5 hours of video that I cut down to this video. I think it's helpful to see some of the issues/problems and how they've been solved. Every dog is an individual and will present different challenges. It's our job as a trainer to figure it out.

  • oh my god!!! This is AMAZING!!! I love her and I want her! :D She did adorable progress and she is so fast!!!! You´re a really good handler! Keep it up!! Want to see more of you guys! :D <333 5 stars and faving!

  • Thanks. I'm glad you love Skeeter, but you can't have her!!! I'm having too darned much fun with her!

  • awesome!
