To me this album shows how badly the beach boys needed Brian. I like the songs I just think that with Brian's writing, arranging and producing was missed.
The more time that passes the more I miss Carl Wilson. I often think about how Tom Petty talked about Carl's incredible voice... A combination amazement, appreciation, and envy! I love reading people's comments about Carl. Also appreciate John Hunter Phillips music and his committment to the Beach Boys... Hope JHP is enjoying life in Hawaii....
beautiful song and way way wayyyy under-appreciated CD. Who else thinks this needs a re-release? They should also put the song 'Problem Child' as a bonus!
one of the best bb songs ever.this almost saves the album.why wasn't it number one ? the chorus takes me to another place in my mind.only the beach boys can make me lose my present troubles.p.s. wake up record companies and radio stations.
I really love this song. The melody and the harmony in this track are awesome. The accordion, I don't know who play... I think that Van Dyke Parks. Carl's voice sounds like a caramel & the voice of Mike Love is so summery. So, I think that this album is better than the Still Cruisin' album. Some people says that this is the worst Beach Boy album, is so bad, but I don't think so. I'm agree with Mike: This is the true Soundtrack of Summer! :D
OK. I know Brian was out of the scene here but even so this album was a great performance by the Beach Boys . This song here 'Lahaina Aloha' is definitely one of my favourite songs .. EVER! Sheer excellence ..
Island Fever was always my favourite track on this album, but I'm coming to appreciate this one more. The chorus really lifts it, with the harmonies, the "bye bye", the accordion; it could have been intensely cheesy, but it's lovely.
I love this song so much. I included a cover of it, with all harmonies plus so additional ones, on my " Diamonds On The Beach" now living in Hawaii has given it more meaning, but Carl's beautiful singing is what hooked me on this. John Hunter Phillips
@BeachBoysGuy1 There are so many songs that I feel Carl's voice is the best... thiis is clearly one of the very best....beautiful song about a beautiful town. To me this song belongs with Somewhere near Japan, and Sloop John B as a sort of trilogy of related songs... does that make sense to you?
On of my favorite songs on the album! you can say what you want you like but Summer of love made did make it onto baywatch! i have seen the BB since i have been 4 and they just finally played forever w/ Stamos. i wish i could see them do summer in paradise live!
Yay! Thank you for posting this. I always loved this song (and this album), simply because of Carl's *beautiful* vocals. Also glad to see the comments--I knew I wasn't the only one who liked this album! ;)
I covered this song on my Cd, "Diamonds On the Beach" by John Hunter Phillips.
I love this BB song and the entire CD, although many did not. Car's voice was spot-on, as always. The production was crystl clear and the songs catchy.
I actually enjoyed this LP. Even SUMER OF LOVE is great if you like the vision of a creepy old man masturbating to pics of young ladies. This song is a great give and take between Mike and Carl and has great harmonies... Woulda Coulda Shulda been a single.
Is there any way you could post "Slow Summer Dancin' (One Summer Night)"? There was a version of it yesterday but it definitely wasn't the Boys' version...and in any event, it's now bee taken off.
yea i have this album on cassette... it was my dad's i just took it when he got rid of his tapes. please please please post strange things happen, thanks!!

Good stuff, but don't tell us it's one of their greatest hits! It was not even released as a single and the album's sales were very poor

This and Somewhere near Japan are their best songs by far! How they dont get played on radio is a guess to me.

If this ends up being the last studio lp by these guys, then that's kind of sad...they need one more great one w/ Brian Wilson.

Mike Love ugh......nice contrast when Carl's angelic voice comes in

Mike´s lyrics on the whole album are really weak - and this song was never a hit :). But it´s one of the songs of this albums which is listenable...

Great song, great album, i think it only really get's slagged because it has no new Brian song, and Summer Of love

Carl's back-up vocals are awesome in this song! Next to Pet Sounds, this is my favorite Beach Boys album, don't care what others say about it.
