It's right for the bride (that is, the engaged girl) to feel strongly attracted to her husband-to-be, but her thoughts and actions must remain pure.

As I said b4, we're not to engage in fantasies about Jesus (I'm not going to spell it out, you know what I mean). Our passion for him mustn't cross a line into fleshly impurity. And secondly, the girl in Song of Solomon (a metaphor for believers) married Solomon (metaphor for Jesus) b4 they did anything (SoS 3:11)

The blood of Christ "covers" the past and an old life and choices, now we are made new, being born again can be like fire. Your courtrooms , your judgments , you will be accountable for what you say. The journey begins, and all are welcome, when we say yes we need your blood your atonement your salvation Jesus - no matter who you are a sparkling eternity where condemnation is lacking awaits.

The first time I listened to this song, I didn't know much about Switchfoot and I didn't understand that they sang about God, I interpreted it in another way. There's nothing wrong about that. Today, I think you're right , it's about us, struggling, burning for something bigger.

Well, the first two verses are about everyone around him being controlling and complacent, and then the chorus is a boy singing quite earnestly about the feeling of being on fire, when near another boy. He then proceeds to get very confused and have identity issues. Aww.
You could of course debate me with the fact that he is speaking in second person. But in my experience whenever someone does that, they're talking about themselves. It's a dissociative measure, they're not ALLOWED that feeling.

The song is about getting tired of letting society tell you how to act and look, and knowing that there's more to life then empty conversations and empty words, and searching for what that more is, and then finding that God is what's more to life, and then being on fire for God. you could swap God out for a girlfreind or something, but it is about God. :)

they play music with christian values but they don't want to be labeled as a christian band because they don't want to be stereotyped by non believers and not be given a chance both musically and as a witnessing tool. but by now most people know who about them.

Um, Switchfoot has even said themselves that they are Christians, but not a Christian band. Most of their music can't even be interpreted as Christian, and has themes like anti-materialism, life, depression and loneliness, and relationships.

Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ, not a stupid religion. It's all about that intimacy with our one true savior that as born of a virgin ministered for 3 years, died on a cross (and the best part,) ROSE AGAIN IN 3 DAYS! With that death and resurection, God gave us a way to be with Him and He wants us to have an intiment relationship with Him through prayer and worship.

Something probably nobody here knows, but this song was actually written and arranged by Daniel Victor, the frontman of Neverending White Lights. It wasn't even going to be a Switchfoot song originally.
So for that I doubt the religious theme of this song, even though Switchfoot's a christan band.

Well, the first two verses are about everyone around him being controlling and complacent, and then the chorus is a boy singing quite earnestly about the feeling of being on fire, when near another boy. He then proceeds to get very confused and have identity issues. Aww.
You could of course debate me with the fact that he is speaking in second person. But in my experience whenever someone does that, they're talking about themselves. It's a dissociative measure, they're not ALLOWED that feeling.

The song was originally written for a girl. But the band decided to direct it more towards God. So that explains it... this song is open to other interpretations though. So feel free to interpret it however you want :DD

How are you sure this is not you changing yourself? I don't believe you can ever be sure. You may be changed by the concept of God, but you can never say that God himself changed you, without deceiving yourself. I don't mean that in a bad way, nor do I mean to put you in a defensive position. But if we want to be realistic, we'd have to admit this to ourselves.

they just don't put it straight out there that they are are Christian because they don't want people to hear that then turn away from them. if you pay attention to the songs you will realize they are Christian. i love this song.

The first time I heard this song I thought it was about God, but this song was originally written about a girl...anyone who thinks this song is only about God is silly. Switchfoot is a "Christian" band but they don't like being referred to as one. Most of their songs have multiple meanings.

well the song is about God. it could be interprettted to be talking about a girl, i suppose, but it makes the most sense if it's about God. The song is about getting tired of letting society tell you how to act and look, and knowing that there's more to life then empty conversations and empty words, and searching for what that more is, and then finding that God is what's more to life, and then being on fire for God. you could swap God out for a girlfreind or something, but it is about God. :)
