Such a shame that Pete didnt stay this open and warm with the crowd throughout his career, its one of the reasons the public grew cold to him, thsi was the year they finally appreciated him and really thought his tennis was amazing then i dunno what happened. I wonder if the change came after Tim died and he tried to hide what was going on internally :S
@quiet1234 It seemed that starting in 1997 he became more machine-like. Probably a combination of pursuing Emerson's record, losing tough matches in 1996, and the business with his then-girlfriend.
