  • A few mistakes here and there, but this is one the better covers I have to say. Well done. I can see you are enjoying it! Thank you. Very nice.

  • Ou muito me engano ou essa era a sala onde tinha aulas de piano :)

  • Very nice! Here's a tip that you can try - once the song rushes into the fast part at 1:40 try playing it soft, quite and slower and make it louder and faster as you reach 2:00. That's how I play it and it sounds super spooky and wonderful! :)

  • @13johnnygnr thanks for your tips ! I don't play this song anymore, but if I ever play it again I'll remember what you said! :)

  • not sure why you say bad playing, its phenomenal, matt bellamy would be proud! :) :P

  • not sure why you say bad playing, its phenomenal, matt bellamy would be proud! :) :P

  • very nice! you play this piece so soft and beautyful!

can poeple find you on facebook?

  • @MarieAnne790 really really thanks :) yes you can find me, just search for Tito Tavares ;)

  • you play very well, how long have you practice this song? I must spend a whole week to play it without sheet.

  • Jesus mate, you are fuckin good, fuckin good. Nice one

  • amazing, truly amazing

  • Ben plays this in a season 4 episode of Lost!

  • You play it very well and I know that's a really difficult score, something that the people who just listen to the music don't really appreciate; but I have to comment something: it's the way that has been recorded the video or you use too much pedal (just a little)?

  • @Akatsukikatsushumi , I think it's a little bit of both :) thanks for your comment, hope you can have the time to learn it too, it's really heartbreaking !

  • @Akatsukikatsushumi , I think it's a little bit of both :) thanks for your comment, hope you can have the time to learn it too, it's really heartbreaking !

  • Tha't a really good job! I've started to study it but I have to finish studying the Clair de lune of Debussy and my teacher just given me the ritual fire dance, so I don't have much time. I really hope to play it withoult "bracking the soul" of it... :S

  • I think I heard some mistakes, but still awesome. I'm gonna try to learn it :p

  • Amazing! And don't be so modest! :P

  • pretty bad? that was awesome

  • Seriously man well done :O!!!!!! This is really really good :O I also heard matt do it during the orgins tour or before sceenager on hullaboo i searched for AGES to find the name :L U do it by ear? bravo again this is great :)

  • your playing is not bad at all. listen lazar berman's playing this piece. or even rachmaninoff himself, is the best...

  • Maybe someone can help, I'm learning this piece and I am at the part where there are 4 stanza, 2 for the right hand and 2 for the left.......what to do here?

Do you choose or actually play it all? Your help is much appreciated!

  • you must play all!!!

  • Pretty well done!

  • it doesn't matter if you play it bad, the most important thing is if you love the music and if you enjoy playing it. interpretation comes first. I can see that you have emotion when you play it. rmember, it always comes first ;) nice job, though

  • you argue with him as if you're the composers.

  • And entirely memorized... like I play pieces.

  • This could be used to open anything. That's why it's a prelude, I guess.

  • You did a great job with this! Stylistically sounds a lot like how I play it, except, you know, better. :P

  • quate well executed indeed, I only noticed a few inconsistencies (like a finger slipped on the edge of a note and hit two), otherwise very well played!

  • commendable!!! I'm trying to trudge through this fantastic piece now, it is truly incredible.

  • nice, good luck on your practice, it feels so good to learn this one isn't it ? :)

  • my favorite composer, as always!! :) <3

    Debussy comes second for me.

  • I think my ranking would be the same, followed by Satie.

  • i liked it. i love this song in anyway. (: fantastic job. im trying to learn to play it now.... but its difficult. to me at least. but you did awesome :D two thumbs upp!

dont listen to people who are discouraging. they have their opinions and we have ours.

    great job! :D

  • You played it very nice.

And i do not think, that you played it too fast. Josef Hofmann played it much faster than you, and i love this piece of music played fastly!

No slow down, it´s okay. Just listen to Hofmann, he was a famous piano player of the 20th century.

You had some mistakes, but nobody is perfect! Just hold on working.

I like your speed, playing this. You should try to play his Prelude in g minor.

I´ve to say Bravo! Pay no attention to the haters!!!!!!

  • great job!

  • Nice. Pay no attention to the haters.

  • first, work on the position of your hands, on your technique, then try to play this...

  • I'm just sharing me having a good moment, don't need to be so jealous

  • I'm not jealous.

but I don't like it that people mess up such a nice piece.

I play this masterpiece too... but i know what I'm doing...

this is not just about playing a little melody...this is romantic music!

  • @xthexDJxisxasleepx Shut up troll. Just because you suck.. If you don't, then stop noobing on other pianists. He's great. It sounds well.

  • dude! slow down!!!!

  • very well done

  • very well done

  • WAY TO FAAST!

  • Nice...but why YAMAHA?

  • in my eyes, yamaha grand pianos are like plastic grand pianos.. horrible and tacky :S

  • amazing :) well done!

  • decieving and evil sounding....nice dude!

  • They're chords too!

Learned off of the "exorcism of emily rose" movie.

Anybody knwos what the hell she is screamin in the barn? Somethin bout Legeon and Nero and stuff??

  • lol i think she was like shouting the names of various demons and finally saying she was lucifer or something..

    awesome cover!

  • This sounds hautning on a classical guitar....it already does even more on a damn piano lol!

  • Amazing! Thanks for posting.

  • powerful!

  • Which prelude is this? Right now I'm learning Op. 32 No. 10. And this might just be added to my list.

  • Ya little fast at the beginning and end but i love how you really bring out the middle how its supposed to be played!

  • I wasn't too sure about the beginning and then...whooooaaa. Niiiiice. :)

  • Very good! I'm impressed!

  • Well done,

It still amazes me how people are able to memorize all those notes/chords.

    again well done, 5!

  • This sounds awesome. I have no idea what this is supposed to sound like, but it sounds wonderful to me. It is clear you feel this music very intensely. Keep it up.

  • you bastard...5 stars

  • more lightly on the pedals, remember, this song is a solemn moment in rachmaninoff's music, so go gently and with caution, cause u never know what rules rach will play by, and just keep practicing, sounds good! keep it up.

    e estes pianos partem-me o coração...

ele toca esta música por exemplo no hullaballoo, antes da screenager ;)

  • u call that bad??!!

  • Woo go Tito! Great job

  • 3'31 MÃO NO NARIZ !

  • MALVAAAADAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ;P

  • (:

    always.

  • (:

    always.

  • I play guitar rather than piano but out of all the versions i've heard of this piece yours is my favourite, intense ending and serious emotional understanding- nice work!

  • you have it down technically, work on expression etc in it, you do play it well though :)

  • Nice job! But why must people refer to EVERY classical piece as a "song"? Songs have words and are sung. This is a prelude for piano...not a song.

  • For some time i watching films with this peace, because i have a plan to play this, too. Nobody- believe me- can't play it so wonderful as you. Great WOW!

  • probably the best praise I ever received... :) :)

thank you so much, I try to make my interpretations as strong as my feelings are :)

Good luck for you learning it, and it you post it let me know!

  • OH my God that was sooooo good, thank you!

  • very nice job :D i couldn't want that piano more :P

  • thank yoou :) yeah the piano helped a lot ;)

  • wow! amazing dude!!

you played it really really well in my opinion

I'm playing this piece on a keyboard now.. unfortunately i don't own a piano

I'd be glad to convert =P

  • Thank very much! I have a book with the piano sheet, but I thing that if you google it you can find it pretty easily ;)

  • no, i meant i have the sheet, but i play it on keyboard rather than on piano

  • great job mate! Really good, I've been playing piano now for about 8 years, and you're obviously not an amateur! Btw, where did you get the sheet? /Søren from Denmark

  • keep on rocking friend! You are blessed with a talent!

  • I like the way you did the middle section at a reasonable pace. alot of people are inclined to rush it and mess up but you did a fine job in my opinion mate.

  • It is notated agitato and i think too many people get caught up in that. I think Rachmaninoff put it as an indication of mood rather than tempo.

    Well done.

  • Tito, this is fantastic, I have no idea what you mean by, "I know I play it pretty bad" ! Sounds amazing. All of Rachmaninoff's pieces are extremely challenging.

Lovely performance, I enjoyed it oh so much. =)

  • but you i think i never play it as well as you :)

  • don't say that! I'm not a pro either, if I did it anyone that really wants can do it too! :) soo just work hard, believe in it ;)

  • oh i love this piece!!!!

now i also have to play it :D i tried it half an year ago but i had not enough time =(

  • dont be down on yourself. you play really great!! KUDOS!

  • oh, thank you very much, that made me happy :)

  • Wow I give you 2 thumbs up that was good

  • Oh my goodness! You sound pro to me!! AWESOME!!!

  • thaanks a lot ;)

not a pro, just feeling what I love to do :)

  • your dynamics are so pro, Rach's pieces are so difficult to play perfectly, and I think you did it ;]

    I favorited

  • Lovely but you understand the passion in this wonderful Rach piece

  • Beautiful. I'm not a pro, either, but I do play, and I think you did it well. I know this sounds corny, but you have to "feel" the song you're playing. The technical stuff is down, just throw yourself into the piece you're playing. Thanks for posting this! ^_^

  • chevere, tienes una version diferente, muy expresiva y me gusta como logras algunos matices. a mi me encanta Rachmaninoff, creo que es lo mejor que se ha escrito en la historia. yo tambien subi este preludio, me encantaria que me des tu opinión.

  • Nicely done. Rachmaninoff composed for himself and with his very large hands, is difficult to play. The finesse in playing comes with time and practice and guidance. Be patient and you will master it. To want is to be able. (Querer es poder)

  • Muse are amazing. i'd love to hear you play Butterflies and Hurricanes ans "Piano Thing". i'm not a pianist, but i can play space dementia, sunburn, new born and other easy stuff, i just can't hold myself from learning to play their songs.

    Loved your sensitivity and dynamics.

  • very impressive

  • hi, i really liked this recording! it's one of my favorite of this piece on youtube. you play this very good!! IF i could play this as well as you i would change the c# octave chords at 2:57 and 3:08. they should be played at the last beat of the previous measures, not on the first beat of the measures, and the higher chords after each should be the first beat of the measures. i'll watch again now, thanks so much for sharing!!

  • I`m playing this too at the minute! For a comp in 3 weeks! I like your version of it, but do you think the beggining is a little too fast?! Its cool though, like the way you stop going from agitato section back to the Tempo Primo! Well Done!

    muchas gracias, feliz navidad!

  • A good performance, I'm hesitant to call it an "interpretation", because I really don't get the sense of any personal interpretation of the piece. I don't hear emotion in the piece - even Rachmaninoff himself uses more rubato, temporally and dynamically, in the first movement. The agigato section was done well, but the interlocked chord cadenza was really uneven. The end set of chords in the final movement were kind of loud, too...

You've got a good handle on this piece - now put in some soul!

  • Very, very nice. Good (but kinda messy) quadruple forte and overall dynamics. Thanks for posting.

    P.S. Nice piano.

  • Can you send the sheet notes to me i can´t find the notes plzz ?

  • it's amazing how Matt Bellamy (a rock musician) has opened up classical music to people who would otherwise never listen to.

  • couldn't agree more! Muse did changed a lot of what I listen (and play) from the moment I became Matt's fan :)

  • Not bad at all!

Although, to be honest, I really only "engaged" as it were, during the agitato section: your sound was beautiful, and...it was just brilliant .

The rest....I dunno, I just didnt like the sound you were getting out of the piano....thats all.

My interpretations going up within a week, tell me what you think of it please!

  • A few bum notes!!! great depth to the sound though.

  • Yeah, I cant really say it too much: the sound of the agitato was incredible. Who cares about dodgy notes? everyone makes silly mistakes

  • I was really happy for your praises, thank you very much :) my technique is not perfect and then I miss some notes, but I try to play with the heart though. thanks :)

  • De Donde eres??? tocas muy bien, felicitaciones!!!

  • Soy de Portugal! :) muchas gracias amigo por tus palabras :)

  • i think your timing is good.

  • I like your interpretation much more than those of kids who try to play it too fast for themselves and lose the melody completely (in the middle section).

  • thanks :) I also think this piece isn't to be played as fast as we can, like somebody told me here once. The melody itself is wasted in its meaning when we do so!

    Thanks for the comment :)

  • you play very well.

    i love this song.

i'm planning on hopefully learning it soon.

  • thanks :)

and if you need any tip on learning it just tell me! It really is such a meaningful song :)

  • I loved it!!!!! So good

  • Wow! I think you're great! and I loved listening to you playing the hurricanes and butterflies piece too, Muse are fantastic I agree, so talented and intelligent, inspiration indeed! Your love of music and empathy for the emotion of a piece really comes across in your playing. Brilliant!

  • :) that really made me happy :)

I only do it for the passion, otherwise it wouldn't be funny... really thanks for your praises, very nice of you!

  • I prefer "C.Bechstein" pianos before "Steinway" anytime. I love the keys on the Bechstein, how the keys softly "bounces" back to your hand after you press it. :) Keep up the good work! Cheers!

  • You play very well. But Yamaha piano sucks. Nice work man!

  • actually and as I was a conservatory student, yamahas are my favorite pianos (talking about the keys only, because the sound of a steiway beats it all). witch one is your favorite then? oh and thanks for the praises :)

  • hey! that was AWESOME!!! I'm freaking out, my teacher wants me to learn that...i just finished rhapsody in blue (it took me half a year to learn 8 pages, but the song is so AMAZING it was worth it :P) and i know what you mean! my school has a steinway...it jus tfeels so powerful and the notes are so rich and...ergh...i can't think of the word. sorry. i'm rambling. anyway, great job!

  • i love your playing=)..awesome!

  • Very sweet of you :) thank you, and thanks for the friend add!

  • yeah great!!this is why j love Muse and Matt Bellamy...and obviously (since 3 years ago)also Rachmaninoff!!

    bravo ciao cheers from italy!

    ps prelude in g minor??

  • very artsy angle. haha i love it

  • mmm... I'd like to play piano, why not start by playing a little Rachmaninoff... LMAO, I wish i could do that too =P

  • Really good work man. I just started playing piano a few months back and this was one of the first songs I started working on. You can check out my version if you want (beware of old piano).

  • yes, a good attempt :D a few notation mistakes.. and your timing was slightly out at times.. but i did enjoy it. i also like your piano ;D

  • Thank you thank you :)

  • I like rachmaninow and this is very good film. I know it because i'm musician

  • Beautiful Sound!Are you a Russian?A Russian's hands are very very big!!!!

  • Thanks so much! Very kind words. My favorite composers are probably Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Chopin to name a few. I tend to like the power songs but also the ballads. What is your favorite music style?

  • Actually, you play this pretty well.

  • Thank you for posting this, very much enjoyed your performace. This song is so beautiful. I fell in love with it when I first began learning it as well. Your piano has a very clear and crisp sound. Who are your favorite composers? I just posted a video of the ending of this song, I'm new to posting videos of my piano playing, so it's the start of an interesting journey.

  • dude I just heard Matt Bellamy from Muse playing it during the Origin of Symmetry tour and I fall in love with it... I know I play it pretty bad, but I'm not a pro, and at least I try and I love what I do... Muse will always be my inspiration to be better...:)

were like the same my inspiration is muse :O

im not a pro but i almost know all their songs on piano buterflies and hurricanes solo :] and more songs and i want to playthis song too and i will:D

  • mt raro encontrar alguém com a mesma inspiração, ainda por cima de portugal:P

boa sorte no teu treino, nada como tocar músicas que nos tocam a alma ao mesmo tempo que são musicalmente geniais*

  • the piano is such a beautiful instrument and also

pianiat is such a funny word!! haha lmao

  • not bad considering rachy was 18 when he wrote this, this is incredible for two months practice and i disagree with amazingorange, rachmaninoffs recording was just as fast in the ending and the middle is a little slow but id give my left nut to play like that

    good job dude

  • that can be arranged

  • Well said a great performance IMO. I've tried some of this piece playing it is no easy task.

  • Wow, I'm very impressed...

  • You put a lot into that. Very sensitive.

In the interest of helping, should you think more about the shape of your phrases? Think more of the phrases in relation to each other and the dynamic movement within each phrase. Listen to Rachmaninoff's playing of this piece in terms of what he does with the phrasing. It is remarkable, not surprisingly.

I hope the comment doesn't offend you.

You are a very impressive pianist!!!

  • Of course it doesn't offend me!! And I truly thank you for your sugestions, when I did this recording I was only practicing this for 2 months, now I'm quite better believe me, and I'll improve a little with the sugestions!=) I've watched your videos too... You're truly are an impressive pianist!

  • That was good advice. It would be cool if you post another video to show your progress with this. If you want.

  • Mattrach of the piano !!! lol

  • Needs work. Sounded stale. The middle was also too slow, and try to make the chords sound different, it just sounded like the same boring thing over and over again.

And the ending was too fast, whats the rush?

  • I disgree with the ending. It was marked Tempo I, but was also intended to be lenient. The tempo I agree however was to metronomic and lacked any true interpretation whatsoever. However, he loves what he is doing and that is the only thing that matters, not his interpretation because he is not a profressional, but the enjoyment he gets out of playing it.

  • He is not playing the cords at the same time, but one at a time. He does not play fast enough in the middle and the end is played too fast.

  • Brilliant interpretation, I love it. How long have you been playing.

  • you dont play it bad at all. you got it memorized and its tough hitting the notes playing it at that speed. :) amazing!

  • It's quite haunting, isn't it! Josef Hofmann played it beautifully too! Best wishes to you!

    Phillip Wilcher (composer)

  • I love this song, and you play it beautifully! I haven't attempted to play it but I plan on tackling it one of these days...

  • One of the most beautiful pieces ever.

    Phhft.

  • Hey! Amazing skills you got there. How long have you been playing? I have been playing for 6 months. Im just learning the solo for Butterflies and hurricanes. I'm terrible, :D. Muse are also my inspiration.

  • been playing for 10 years I guess...lol with only 6 months and you're already playing B&H?? woow, keep it up, you'll go far!!=)

  • Lovely.

  • well done!great great work.

when I watch videos like yours I feel depressed since I stopped practicing piano since I was too bored to study music and so I just started making my music and playing it. Easy stuff.

    classical music shakes my entity.

  • you shouldn't give up! As long as you're alive you can steel learn how to play as you dream:)

  • you are right..but now with my new band, and job in a magazine and stuff I feel like I have no time..and I loove my band.! did u check out the site I gave u at hi5?:) anyway! I am just 19 so I think there's always be some time for more effort.

  • hum no, I didn't receive any site at hi5! Give it to me and I'll tell you what I think! Playing in a band is great!=)

  • you make it look so easy! amazing job! little slopp here and there but great...may i ask how old are you? im learning to play this for a recital so it's nice to see other people play it!

  • I guess I was 20 when I recorded it on this video. You must be very talented to play it at your age! Good luck at your recital*

  • ah thanks!
