2.Endaro Mahaanubhaavulu is at once rich in the noble sentiment of Tyagaraja Swami's grateful tributes to the countless broad-minded savants who by their example taught the spiritual values of living including Bhakti to Sri Rama Bhagavan.(Tribute giving is rare even for greats!) This Kriti is a monumental example of Tyagaraja's divine ability to combine sublime Rama Bhakti with choice Sanskrit expressions in Telugu cast, and impressive musical originality (svara sets preceding lyrics for them).
Purandara Dasa is known as the Carnatic music system's GRANDFATHER (pitaamaha), having preceded the 'Trinity' of Dikshitar, Shyama Shastri and Tyagaraja. He has composed a range of items to cover the simple ones for very young, right to the Bhakti and philosophy soaked ones to touch the souls of mature people longing for the higher values of life.
it's vandanamulu. I have heard mostly classical singers from tamil nadu pronounce it incorrectly as vandanamu ... maybe as a matter of convenience ... but check out Nithyasree madhavan's rendition .. sweet and accurate pronounciation
@saikp I am not a Telugu, but I undersand some very elemenary ABCs. in it. Vandanamu is singular, vandanamulu is plural. There are different versions (Paathaantaras) which have come down through the shishya lines of the original disciples of Sri Thyagarajaswami thru so many decades. It is difficult today to say whether the singular or the plural use of this word is 'the' right or 'the' auahentic, one.
yes, we will never know what the actual composition was. I went by what my grandmom (and few of my relatives) used to sing and we are Telugu. also, in general when you use plural you use plural everywhere.again, it's not a rule but that's the way someone who speaks traditional telugu would speak. so, IMHO this is a reasonably sufficient linguistic evidence to deduce that it must have been "vandanamulu". it's a sweet rendition nevertheless :)
having said that, I think Tamilians have been doing a great service to Carnatic music, esp Tyagaraja krithis (more than Telugus, I think it's a shame for we Telugus that we haven't kept up in this) by keeping this music format alive.
@saikp i like so many telugu songs which i sing in batthroom having shower, some i have posted .music is a language which unite people not just indians but worldwide.i like some chinese, african let alone somne of rod stewart's songs..
I have learnt it as "Vandanamulu", but i heard many people singing as "Vandanamu"... I think "Vandanamulu" is correc,.... In telugu "lu" is plural form. So here in the song, they say Endaro Mahanubhavulu, that means so many great people that means we are using plural form. So Vandanamulu is correct. I am sorry if i am wrong!!
hi its a great work. wonderful presentation. I downloaded this video but i could not see the subtitles. pls tell me how to download it including the subtitles.

@raghavendradatt1 Both by context and Prasa Vandanamulu is befitting.
